Knowing Charley Rosen's past d@ssing and bashing of Yao Ming, what do you guys think of his listing of Yao Ming & Tracy McGrady amongst NBA's All Time Nice Guys List ??

Is he implying that Magic is all show? Not a nice guy? I'm not seeing that.

And I personally think Drexler deserves to be on there (the fact that he was generally a gentleman is a big reason why he's my favorite player)... but hey, at least he got McGrady, Yao, and Hakeem. Good list.

Rosen needs to define "nice guys" first. From what I read, "nice guys" seem to be equivalent to "trouble-free guys." By trouble-free, it probably means no run-ins with laws off the court.

Otherwise, how can Jeff Foster be a "nice guy" on the court, when his fulltime job is to mug Yao Ming with all the dirty tricks at his disposal when his team (Pacers) play Rockets?

    Gimme a break, Rosen.

    I guess you missed this?

"For me, a "nice guy" is a player who is grateful for the lifestyle that his talents have produced; who is mindful of the feelings and needs of others; who takes full responsibility for his actions, both positive and negative; who is confident without being arrogant; and who doesn't assume a phony persona when the media spotlight is focused on him."

    Third paragraph.

I think I missed. My objection to listing Jeff Foster as a nice guy stands nonetheless.

Maybe his definition/list should really be for "people in touch with reality" compared to some of the over hyped "NBA stars" who speak about themselves in the third person and forget how past stars helped them build this league. Lebron's claim to want to be the richest man in the world would knock him off the list I presume....Kobe's rape would seemingly knock him off also....

Since Rosen had three Rockets on this list, do we assume to make the list is really NOT a compliment?
