Appears BW doesn't see the sense in Rice as many of you have intimated.

However, I think CD is just getting warmed up. Rice has defensive limitations, but if we can use diffrent zones to help mask his weakness. This guy and Reggie Miller are probably the best pure shooters in the league.

Rice does have some low post offense and playing with penetrators like Steve and Cat he should have ample opportunities to launch jumpers.

I never was a Shandon Anderson disciple so picking up a former all-star for him in my book is fine. Yes, he has a large contract, but its only for three years. I don't buy Walton's assessment that SA has so much potential and he will develop into a star. He won't see many touches in NY, but will make an awesome defense twosome when combined with Spree.

Given, that most of us fans would gladly let SA go, I think CD made a nice trade. If this Hill kid can back-up either at 1 or 2 we have a nice bonus...he's gotta be better than Colson!

I think this also means Wiz will head to WASH for Jahidi once mid-Sep rolls around. This will give us a nice inside presence.

Lets all pray GR can regain some of his old flame and be a 15-20 pt scorer for us. If so, we should be a lot of fun to watch.

If Bill doesn't like it, it's a great deal. I'd be concerned if he did. Remember, this is the same guy who suggested we use our lottery pick a year ago on Scoonie Penn.

By the way, this should slam the door on any notion of Rice moving on to another team...

“Glen Rice is a guy I’ve coveted and this organization has coveted for a long time because he is one of the premiere shooters in the league,” Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. “He’s a guy that fits with the young penetrating guys we have, and I have a really good feeling about him.”

    Cat,

Where did you get that quote? I musta missed that article.

BW was a great 5, but he ain't close to being the analyst guru he thinks he is...BW and Pe Ve crack me up with some of their spins.

Cat: I'm with you all the way on this one, man. I, too, would be concerned if dufus Walton thought that this was a good deal. Remember, this is the same idiot that said, "Mark Bryant -- what a CLUTCH PLAYER!!!" He's a joke, plain and simple.

    Duh.

Damn Cat, I guess flying from San Antonio to Wash DC and then riding a bus for 90 mins has clouded my memory. I read right through that para and missed it.

Saw another article that says NY is trying to trade Ward to GS for Foyle. Expect DAL to now go for T. Hardaway. Hopefully, that will allow us to get Mooch under contract.

"And from a salary standpoint, Anderson won't command anywhere near the $9 million per season that Rice is guaranteed."

I would have to guess that Walton wrote the article before he knew that Anderson signed for 7 million a year.

BW also said this about Rice:

"veteran guard with a limited offensive game"

He got the veteran part right, but the second part is totally untrue. This guy is an idiot and his basketball knowledge is embarassing. In Charlotte, when Rice was given the opportunities, he easily scored from the outside and on post up moves.

Rice is a good addition, but his salary is a bit high. Since they basically have no cap room for the next few years...who are they gonna get for the 5 spot?

    Slam,

If we can come up w/a decent 5 we'll be set. Who is that gonna be? Personally, I hope we go for Mihm. LaFrenz isn't going anywhere with Kiki as GM, unless he gets a monster offer.

Mihm on the other hand is a big, mobile 5, with offensive skills and some defense. He's a Texan and would probably benefit from the Rockets system. He'd come relatively cheap from a contract perspective, but as far as a trade...I don't know what we could offer. Maybe KT, Collier and draft choices might be a worthwhile offer.

I've talked about Jahidi White also being a nice addition to the team, but we shouldn't pencil him as our starter--unless that's the best we can do.

Dean Garrett might be had for a reasonable price from MIN since they have Woods, but I doubt they'd do anything to make us stronger.

I'm sure there are other options...McCoy, Olden Polynice, etc.--just don't know who might be best fit.

Shark: I"m with you. I'd love to see the Rockets get Mihm. I'd love to see a Texan on the team. I like his game for our system. Maybe with Diop, Cleveland will move him.

In the same vein, I'm rooting for Omar Snead or Darren Kelly to make the IR. I liked their hustle in the RMR and they have some serviceable skills.

Chris Mihm is more of a Power Forward than a center. They pointed that out in the Revue.:)

Shark, what's this about Jahidi White in mid-September. Could someone clarify the capsituation right now please. How much are we under/over the cap? Is Walt for White feasible?

    Rich,

An Austin boy would be great and I agree he'd work well in our system.

    GotG,

Lucas is saying he'll move Mihm to 4, but in our system he could play 4/5 and with the right coach and trainer could develop into a solid NBA 5.

    Bingo,

Another thread and article said a HOU deal w/WASH for Jahidi would have to occur in Sep because of his status as a _____, can't remember terminology.

White has BYC status and it is my understanding that he becomes easier to trade in Septemeber when his status changes. But I believe a trade could happen before then.

I'm not a capoligist, but a trade of Walt, Collier, and KT for White and Hubert Davis works, according to Real GM.

We don't need Hubert Davis unless he's a throw-in to make the numbers work out. We DEFINITELY don't need to trade Kenny Thomas. I'm getting sick and tired of seeing people say, "Let's trade KT for someone that sucks." If the Rockets ever got rid of Kenny, it will be something that they will regret. Now as for Collier...that wouldn't be a bad idea. :D

But we do need White and the Wizard is gone because of Rice.

who FUWKIN cares about Bill "Lurch" Walton. I love going to Clippers games at the CPQ Center just so I can yell at him.

If he dont like it then we done damn good.

Just refer to all his "Hakeem and the Rockets suck" quotes during the early 90's and you will see exactly how fuggin retarted he is.
