If pits are raised right they can be good dogs but it is true that different dog breeds have different temperments. Dogs generally considered nicest are labs and retrievers but even I have seen these breeds of dogs act aggresively althought they have been raised properly. A lot of it has to do with how they are raised but a lot of it also has to do with the breed. I mean you could raise a rattlesnake from baby to adult but it will never lose that instinct to bite. Same with dogs. They all have that instinct to chase, hunt, bite, or whatever it's just some are better at one of those than others but each can and will do any of those at one time or another.
Oh so now the dog was actually going to kill his daughter and he saved her by pulling the trigger as his pet wagged its tail?
Paging Peta, paging peta... Amen, brother, preach it! Dude, you don't know the irony of your statements. In your "defense of life" and in your question of "forgiveness" you mock the sacredness of "human life" by making a dog's life out to be more important... and you miss the point of the fulfillment of some 300+ prophecies of Jesus... (don't mock the reasons He died on a cross, they were NOT for the canine species). I am practicing what I preach... And in this case I'm supporting that particular action with an "I'd do it too." The DOG is not human. You get another one of these... Good grief. It's not like I'm condoning a roving pack of trigger happy gun toters on a vigilante mission to eradicate the planet of pit bulls... I'm saying if MY dog were to get aggressive toward my child, or any child for that matter, I'd put it down. And if I lived outside the city limits, I'd use a bullet. And anyone that's owned a dog knows that they tend to wag their tails when they see the person that they view as the food provider. I've seen rabid dogs wag their tails. My sister-in-law works as a vet nurse and she watches dogs "as they wag their tails" get euthanized every week, sometimes multiple times per week. Dogs get put down for many reasons... and I'd be a fool to take the chance of letting a dog known to be aggressive go and have the chance to live with someone even without children. What if children live across the street? What if children are riding the miniature horse across the street? Kids are everywhere. And they are Way, way, way more important than dogs. btw- I've owned a dog for most of my life. And I've never had to put one to sleep, or "put one down" any other way, though I have had to give them away when moving. As for me, not you, or anyone else, but as for me, I could not sleep well giving away a potentially harmful dog... to anyone. I'd take it to a shelter to be euthanized... unless I lived in the country. It's done quite often. Another alternative I've seen people do is drive the animal way out in the country and let it out to fend for itself... to me THAT is inhumane. I wouldn't pick that route personally. But hey, again to each his own. -Mr. Preacher
Extremely good point too... Most dogs will never go a full life without chewing something they shouldn't, or without nipping at least one person, maybe even to the point of drawing blood... but when they cross the line, and go into the growl as they would to warn an enemy... then you have a choice to make.
Since I know someone who rescues Pit Bulls with ignorant owners, I'm pretty sure killing your dog is NOT your only option. It's the easy way out. Man...
