Today, the Center For Responsibility And Ethics In Washington released its second annual survey of the twenty most corrupt members of Congress, aptly named "Beyond DeLay: The 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and five to watch)."

CREW inventoried the "transgressions" of each member of Congress under the microscope of federal law and congressional rules.

    Some highlights:

-The three most corrupt Senate members are the infamous Conrad Burns (R-MT), Bill Frist (R-TN), and Rick Santorum (R-PA)

-Seventeen of the twenty "Most Corrupt" politicians are Republicans

-Four of the "Five Members To Watch" are Republicans

-All but one of the 25 Members of Congress included on the list are up for re-election

    The Full List:

    Members of the Senate:
    Conrad Burns (R-MT)
    Bill Frist (R-TN)
    Rick Santorum (R-PA)

    Members of the House:
    Alan Mollohan (D-WV)
    Roy Blunt (R-MO)
    Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO)
    Ken Calvert (R-CA)
    Richard Pombo (R-CA)
    John Doolittle (R-CA)
    Rick Renzi (R-AZ)
    Tom Feeney (R-FL)
    Pete Sessions (R-TX)
    Katherine Harris (R-FL)
    John Sweeney (R-NY)
    William Jefferson (D-LA)
    Charles Taylor (R-NC)
    Jerry Lewis (R-CA)
    Maxine Waters (D-CA)
    Gary Miller (R-CA)
    Curt Weldon (R-PA)

    Five Members to Watch:

Is the Center for Responsibility a group of hatchet job Democrats or is it a non-partisan group?

Reading the report, some of them didn't really seem that bad....however some of them seeemed horrible. Roy Blunt - if this stuff is true - should pretty much go to jail forever along with his criminal-ass family.

By their definition of a bribe, I would think all 535 members of Congress have taken bribes. So they're all corrupt. I say we just line them all up and shoot em and start over. I'll start my own congress! With blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the congress.

Wow. A lot of those I just scanned really require a lot of leaps in logic off of little proof.

Not sure, but just from looking at their website, one of the founders worked as Committee Counsel for Joe Biden, John Conyers and Charles Schumer, and another is the former communications director for Media Matters (which *is* a very partisan hatchet-job group). I'd take what comes from just about any "public interest" group with the same grain of salt.

And Ted Stevens not making this list brings into question their basic competence.

theres no way you find anyone in any of these groups that hasn't worked for either of the parties.

ps: if only culberson was more like stevens and attempted to get us money instead of screwing us over...
