The funny thing is we don't get paid out for unused sick days but we honestly have unlimited sick days. However we have a good group and no one takes more than 2-3 a year.

Sadly, last year I took one because I had not worked out my chest in a long time and over did it and I woke up in pure agony. I could not raise my hands above my head. As the day went on i ended up reorganizing the garage. my buddies still give me a hard time about it.

"So you called in sick because you were too sore to go to work and then you reorganize your entire garage."

Haha! I do the exact same thing every morning, I usually roll in about 15-20 minutes late everyday though. Good thing my office and boss are real relaxed, plus I'm usually the first one there anyway. My problem is just getting up, once I'm up, I'm good to go. Funny thing is I even lay there and think about reasons for being late. Traffic and just waking up late only cut it so many times, about 2 each...lol

Maybe we should start a collection of excuses.

I just recently asked for a personal/sick day and was told I had to use a vacation day for it instead. So, in a couple of weeks, I'm going to be unexpectedly sick for 2 or 3 days for revenge.

quit! i remember i went through that once. I was working as a bill collector, and boy was that a boring job. I would call to collect on bounced checks, for several companies, it wasnt too bad. UNTIL, they decided to move me to a department that collects for Wal-Mart. And it was like working for Satan or something. It was horrible, so the last month i worked there I missed atleast 2-3 days a week. Until I just didnt show up, I know that was an irresponsible thing to do, BUT I couldn't stand the thought of working there another 2 weeks. Just QUIT. Becuz it isn't going to get better.

    Mine comes and goes...

I don't hate my job but it is very boring at times. Add to the fact that it is also hard for me to get up in the mornings (especially if the wife and me didn't actually go to bed until 12 if you know what I mean). It won't be much longer that I will actually be busy most of the day while I am at the office! ;)

That really sucks. The only reason I wake up in the morning is to go to work. I have nothing else to look forward to besides work. I especially love the drive to work. I swear sometimes I am so excited about work the next day I can't fall asleep. I hate Saturdays more than any other day of the week simply because I am not at work. And this post is no joke.

But I do remember the time when my life was nothing like this! It wasn't too long ago when I had to force myself to get out of bed and then make the 40 minute drive to work and sit in that damn tiny cubicle all day. I remember looking forward to Fridays just so I can wear jeans that day. I had to work Saturday and Sundays and every holiday..godamnit! Money was no longer a motivator. I used to b**** out my managers and bum around all day doing absolutely nothing. I'd even take naps in the handicap stall. God I was so miserable. I waited for weeks to get fired, but they never let me go..I think it's definitely time to change things up.

But man I love my job right now

I've never taken a sick day off in my seven years since college...

and now - when any of my people call in sick - i require a doctor's note and i have someone periodically call them throughout the day to make sure they're at home...

    yeah - i'm mean.

I think I've only called in a legit sickness twice. I've called in sick, so I can horse around once.

I have 210 sick hours that i've accrued in 29 months.

If we are out three consecutive days, we have to get a note from the doctors.

I remember this one time I was feeling sick, and I wasn't really really sick, but I knew I was coming down with something. I called in, and I just chilled at home. So the next morning when I woke up, I thought I would be a fresh daisy, but I felt like ****.

A few fridays ago, I was feeling dandy fresh in the morning. But by lunch time, I started feeling ill. My friend and her sister picked me up for lunch so we could go to lubys. I ended up sleeping in her car, while my friend her daughter, and her sister ate. I took me some bags in case i blew chunks. I called them to place an order for me so i can eat later.

I went home two hours early that day.

I'm a warrior damnit. A soulja, I need not call in.

    padding my post.

I forgot to add, that it's a b**** for me to get up. I was used to getting up at 10:30, or 10:45 am, and then getting to work at noon. I would shower, put my gear on, and all that stuff, and head out. Infact, I could head out of my house at 11:25, Maybe 11:30 and get to work at noon. I work in downtown, and I live down 290.

Now I have to wake up at 7am, and be at work at 9am.

    Traffic sucks.

It doesn't help that I don't sleep til 3am on many nights. So I only get four hours of sleep at night.

Sometimes, I have to catch up on sleep during my lunch hour.

It sucks that by Friday, I end up crashing and falling asleep at 730 pm on a friday night.

Who calls in any more? I e-mail if I'm sick and not coming in. I don't wanna talk to anyone. Plus, it's usually early before anyone is in office that your trying to let them know. It's faster if the boss gets it on the Blackberry. My boss isn't going to require me to talk to him on the phone so he can try to assess from my voice whether I'm actually sick or not. Plus, you feel like you have to put on a "moan and groan" show to prove your point that you really are sick because you may not sound sick otherwise...like the boss is going to say "You don't sound very sick to me". Ugh...you a doctor now? Sick days are a part of work. They just write it off. What does that mean? You know...they write it off! They write all kinds of things off. They allocate for that stuff. There was a recent study that it's better for sick employees to stay home rather than be unproductive at work and possibly make other employees sick. But, whether an employee is being truthful about being sick is just a problem with no answer. If your not willing to take your employees at their word and within reason on the amount of absences, then why would I want to work for someone like that...especially when most companies preach about being honest and truthful in how you conduct yourself? Well, I'm honestly sick. Honest. ;)

My back is pretty much out again right now. I can't even walk upright at all.

This post is reeking of Vicodin plus 5 Guinness. I have to be up @ 6:15.

This is the 3rd night in a row, and my back is still ****ed. I can't miss work.

    More drugs please.

That sucks man. After a bottle and a half of wine last night, I seriously considered using my sick day I just got back yesterday (our sick days are in a rolling year, you get the day back a year after you use it).

Getting out of bed is the hard part, especially since I average 4 1/2 - 5 hours of sleep a night during the week. But once I'm in the shower, it's cool.

I don't exactly have the most exciting job in the world, but it's a pretty good work environment and when it's not busy(which unfortunately ain't too often these days), I can surf the internet and listen to Yahoo Launchcast all day.

And my bosses are really cool about sick days. I just e-mail them if I'm not gonna make it in. It helps that I miss work due to illness pretty infrequently. Especially when compared to my coworkers who all miss a lot more time than me.
