I agree. I think he has a little better than adequate range to play 3rd. Maybe spot a little at 1B, but yes avoid putting him in the OF at all costs.
I have always been a Scott fan but when he started stinking it up and we sent him back down to AAA, something happened that just sparked his performance this season. I too fear that just like Mo, he might falter next season too. But, he's a lot younger. I don't know if that matters but anyway, I think he should start next season as long as he doesn't knock Willy out of center. But, you already know, if he comes up next season batting .250, he will be the most negatively talked about player. You know how it is, love you when you are up, hate you when you are down. Sad but true.
True but with Berkman's hamstring issue he won't last that long out there. That's why I am not sure about 1st base next season. I want Lamb there, period. But that's Lance's spot so what the heck? I don't want to lose either.
Goodbye, Roger! It sucks I had to work and didn't even get to see him pitch his final home game. I didn't even Tivo it. Damn. No way he comes back. NO WAY!
A shame we couldn't make the playoffs this year...A waste of $11 plus MM dollars...Well worth it...Thanks for the memories...
I would let Huff go in the offseason. Go after Carlos Lee he has a much higher ceiling than Huff has. Best outfield for us next year would be.. Carlos Lee Willy Taveras Luke Scott Jason Lane as the 4th outfielder. And please god don't let Palmeiro be on this team next year. I am sick of his little groundouts to second base.
I am talking about next season. I just got home from today's game. I had the best seats I have ever sat in at MMP. My voice is about gone. I was like 11 rows up from the cinci dugout but closer to homeplate. I was able to heckle the Reds and cheer Roger and the guys on. It was a great game. I sported my Everett shirt with pride. It was great. But, Lidge coming out scared me.
Awww dammit! You tellin me I missed Roger's (possibly, hopefully maybe not) last game at home because I was at freakin work! Damn, damn, damn I never even got to see him pitch at MMP in person either.
that's what i'm saying. i'm not saying sign huff to play RF. i'm saying sign him to play 3B. you can do a lot worse than Huff at 3B.
While that would possibly be a great scenario... getting Carlos Lee is no for-gone conclusion. Even though we've been linked to him in the past, I still say our shot at signing him is no better than 50/50... and that's only if its between us and the Rangers. If the Cubs get involved, all bets are off. Then, you have to realize that the club needs to make a decision on Huff before they address outside options... Huff seems re-signable, not too expensive, and is still a proven better than average hitter at the plate (something we don't have too many of). If you let Huff go with the thinking that Lee is in the bag... and you DON'T get him, you end up with a lineup that is possibly WORSE than the one we're ending the season with. Ensberg still plays for cheap (relatively), and it wouldn't be smart to lose him for nothing... I'd try to work him in a trade, but if there are no biters, give him another chance to rebound after a year of rest. Scott still plays for cheap too... he's not going anywhere.
