Hello everybody. I'm a new member around here but a longtime Rockets fan. I was forever a Rockets pimp when that miracle shot dropped through by Sampson against the Lakers.

I'm getting worried about why we haven't heard anything about SA. Why is it taking so long? If the Rockets/Fegan can't agree on the terms, maybe they are shopping and trying to maximize Anderson's contract will getting something solid in return.

That seems to me the only reason it is taking so long. They've had a month+ to discuss numbers. Something isn't right.

Personally, if we can get something worthwhile in return, I wouldn't mind seeing SA go. But it better be good. None of this two draft picks crap.

i don't think you'll be seeing a S&T of shandn...unless it is for a pick. or unless he's packaged up with someone else (and that doesn't seem very likely at this time, either).

prepare for the return of the houston mason.

    krosfyah,

By most calculations on this board, the Rockets can easily have $10m to spend on Shandon and another free agent. All they have to do now is renounce Bullard, and sign him later to the veteran's minimum of $1.3m for 10-yr vets.

However, if they want to shop for a free agent, they'll have more money to spend if they avoid signing Shandon immediately, assuming he'll sign for less than $4.5m starting salary. This wait can merely be indicative of the Rockets shopping while they currently have a handshake agreement with Shandon to finalize after they are done shopping.

this wait makes perfect realGM sense to me.

I don't buy it. Why is it in SA's interest to wait for the Rockets to shop? That's like telling your girlfriend that I don't want to commit just in case some better ass comes along.

Earlier CD was saying how smooth things were and how close. Since, we've heard nothing.

Clearly MoTay had a handshake deal cause they wrapped that up immediately.

I think SA wants 5-6 mil for 6 years and CD doesn't want to commit to that...rightfully so. Afterall, this is Fegan we're talking about...and Fegan is probably already pissed at CD re: Dream.

I may eat my words, but I think something surprising is going to come out of this.

I guess you'd say that Moochie and Bullard aren't waiting, either.

My point is not to argue, but to say that the Rockets are in a rare position for a team in that the order of signing free agents does matter--usually it does not matter. If SA is willing to sign for $5m, why would he care when that happens. He still gets the $5m. Does he actually believe that doing a girlfriend fit will get him more money...to use your analogy.

It would not hurt SA to wait at all, just like it is not hurting Moochie or Bullard. CD merely agrees to a price tag, and says, we are not going to sign you right away, please wait.

Your talking apples and oranges here. your not shopping for a replacement but for another peice to the puzzle. Is Shandon going to help us at the 5 spot? No. So why should he mind waiting. For all practicle purposes Shandon has his peice of the pie.

The point of my post was that I beleived that the Rockets were shopping SA since clearly negotations had broken down or he would have signed a deal already.

Who's the man?!?! Who's the man?!?!

You have to give me props for calling that one out in advance!!!

Well if you chose to read the chronicle article, you would have seen that you're little prediction hasn't happened yet.

"No offer currently on the table has moved the Rockets from their priority of signing Anderson, the sources said, and Anderson has not ruled out accepting the Rockets' current offer."

According to you, the Rockets new priority is shopping Anderson, well according to the chronicle, their priority is to sign Anderson.

    Quit trying to prop yourself...

I still haven't reached the point of respect on this board (1000+ posts), but you haven't even gotten out of buttscrubber mode (junior member) yet, and you're already demanding props for an observation that has been made by numerous posters for several months now.

Anyone with half a brain knows that Shandon is redundant unless he comes really cheap (not gonna happen). There have been at least 10 or so threads on this very subject, so props not earned.

Okay, so I'm new to this board so I didn't see the previous threads. But months ago, a S/T seemed plausible. But nobody was calling for it now. CD said he wanted to lock up SA.

Not only did I call the S/T possibility, but my timing was dead on. Plus my numbers were dead on for what SA was asking.

So you don't have to give props but...

I guessed the "Who," = SA
    I guessed What" = S/T
I guessed "Why" = SA wanted 5-6 mil for 6 years and Fegan already alienated w/ Dream situation.
I guessed "When" as my prediction came hours before the news

I only missed the "Where" as I wouldn't have predicted NY. I guessed it would have been Miami...which by salaries is about the same as Mason. Everybody was saying "Mace was too expensive" was dead wrong. If the stars aligned, a S/T for Mace could have worked out...at least in terms of money. Personality is another issue.

You don't have to give props but I know I was all over this like white on rice (no pun intended). :)

Oh, and let me defend myself a bit.

That is another issue. I won't result to insults like you have.

I stuck my neck out and called it. Where were you? When I predicted it, all I heard was naysayers. Don't get jealous just cause a junior member called this.

It's pretty sad when you have to keep giving yourself props. Maybe, if you weren't begging for them, they'd come.
