If we can get him for cheap, it would obviously a great value. BUT,

I'm having a hard time thinking of any lineups in which he would work with Tmac and Yao considering our current roster.

The most logical lineup is Alston, Bonzi, Tmac, Battier, and Yao. The only spot-up shooter in that lineup is Battier. It doesn't have enough shooting, and we'd be vulnerable at the 4. If Battier got into foul trouble, there's no spot up shooting unless we play Novak.

I'd almost rather start Snyder over Bonzi in that scenario because he is a solid 3 point shooter.

If JVG decides to start Howard, then Bonzi would definately have to come off the bench, seeing that a lineup of Rafer, Bonzi, Tmac, Howard, and Yao would be an even worse-shooting team.

In short, life would be a lot easier if we had a PG who was a reliable shooter. Without that, we must have a shooter at the 2. We definately do not want to be the nuggets.

The answer is V-Span starts at PG because he will give you that 2nd reliable shooter even if it's not all 3 pt shooting. I think V-Span will replace Alston in the starting line up.

If we land Bonzi he's got to be in our starting two guard. He's a proven player and Snyder is not. No matter when he's on the floor it would be great to have a good rebounding guard again.

Get him with the TE for the 2nd round pick.

Then give him the MLE money next year.

Think about it, that means we would STILL have the MLE next year, even with re-signing him because he would be our own FA.

You sign Wells, he probably ends up 3rd cog on the title team and can get MLE money and stay on that team (we could offer even more because he would be our own player).

It seems an absolute no-brainer for both parties, and definitely seems the best option for Wells.

I cannot see any WC team beating a healthy Rockets team in 7 games if they add Wells (much less so if Sura can give anything).

Don't hold your breath guys. I personally think he's going to denver. The playing time's guaranteed and he'll be the #2 option.

I have no way of knowing if this is true or not, but I just called up one of my friends and asked him if he had heard anything about this, and he actually said that tonight at work some people were listening to a report on the radio that said Wells will sign tomorrow in a sign and trade deal for 2 years at $6.5 million, with year two being a player option.

No details on what was traded to Sacto, other than a mention that the Kings wanted no salary back (so probably a draft pick).

And everyone please do not jump all over me and throw around insults if this proves untrue, because it is just as I said, something my friend claimed he heard at work.

Sac will do a SNT if the pot is sweet enough. So how bad do we want Bonzi. Give them a first rounder unprotected for next year because Bonzi will get us out of the lottery playing for his contract next year anyway.

    Bobcats interested in free-agent swingman
    RICK BONNELL
    rbonnell@charlotteobserver.com

Is Bonzi Wells in the Charlotte Bobcats' future?

Bobcats coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff confirmed Tuesday he plans discussions with Wells' representatives sometime this week to gauge the free-agent swingman's interest in signing here.

Wells, 30, averaged 13.6 points and 7.7 rebounds last season for the Sacramento Kings. He's also been linked to the Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. Since scoring at the wing positions is a clear need for the Bobcats, Wells' skill set would be a good fit. Also, the Bobcats are several million under the salary cap, so they could seemingly make a competitive offer.

The greater question is a roster spot. The Bobcats already have 15 players under contract, plus a qualifying offer of about $3 million to restricted free agent Melvin Ely. Bickerstaff indicated that resolving Ely's situation probably takes precedence over any other move between now and the start of training camp Tuesday in Wilmington.

A lot of this seems on the money in terms of feasibility--years, amount under the TE, how it would be structed with the option. Hope it is accurate and not someone just thinking out loud that someone heard as true.

Yeah, me too. Trust me, I'm not happy about it.

But I'm trying to contribute where I can.

I suppose it is possible to do a 3-way deal. TE to Kings, Well sign with Kings and get traded to Bobcats, Ely+filler+pick to Rox. Kings may be more willing to do this as Wells will be going to east. We get another big man in Ely and Bobcats' pick can be very valuable.

bobcats are under the cap. i don't think a 3 way helps them out, especially not if it involves them dropping a pick

but the article says they have extra players to drop. It makes me think they don't want to sign wells without getting rid of a couple of players.

Never not even in never-everland gonna happen. Bobcats don't need anybodies permission or help to do the deed. If they want him he is theirs! So the Cats ain't about to do us any favors. Oh and remember Bonzi has already shown a predisposition for greed. So if they show him the money he is as good as signed. No matter that he will spend the rest of his career never playing in another playoff game.

Why are you guys freaking out? The article doesn't say that he's going to sign with the Bobcats, we just have to wait and see when he decides where he's going.
