It's highly unlikely Bonzi's going to land here.We can't give him the kind of money he'll get somewhere else.....and with Bonzi,I believe it's about the money.More than anything Well's is just using us to try to gain leverage.

Bonzi would be awesome for this team. He's a legit third option on any team in the league and would be second on many. He can drop 20 on any given night. This would be an enormous coup and would turn one of our weaknesses at the two into one of our strengths with scoring and depth.

Not the same thing. mj (the not MJ) was targeted, BW is gravy IMO. He will or won't come without the emotional baggage of the james gang...bang.

Sign him for a year in a sign and trade deal with the Kings, with the 4.2 mil exception. Give him about 20 -25 games to find out what hes got. If he works out good, if not hes prefect trade bait, i mean expiring contract! who doesnt want that.

    Exactly.

Whether you think he's a cancer or not, there really is no reason not to do this if the cost is only the 4.2 mil exception and maybe a pick of some sort. Only if it starts to involve players (ie. Head) do you really have to think about it.

is there any other team that may offer him more than 4.2 mil? If Heat and Nuggets don't want to cough up more than 2.1 mil, why not try 2.1 mil? Either way, it is fine. You cannot go too wrong with a 1-year contract which can be traded easily.

It seems that Minnesota (irony) are the only ones with a TE of similar value at 4.2 mil.

wow. i didn't really think much of this speculation but now that he's actually visited with us, i'm getting all excited.

for the deal that he'd have to take to come here he'd be very low risk, potentially very high reward. he's a very talented player and if he can buy into team basketball, he'll be very very good. i'm scared to get my hopes up but this would be HUGE.

He is a 2 guard in the prime of his career and he adds a REBOUNDING 2 guard as well.

He would fit in very nicely with the Rockets.

And, CD would get major bonus points for pulling this rabbit out of his hat.

I would say his prime came about 4 years ago, but his minutes were way down in Memphis so it's not easy to gauge whether or not he's truly regressed.

He sure would be a perfect 3rd scorer though. That would allow Battier to be what he should be: a perfect 4th scorer.

I really hope this works out, but I'm not holding my breath. :(

Check out his per 40 minute stats. As far as full seasons go, last year was by far his best rebounding year. His TS% is down compared to earlier in his career. This could mean that he's not as good at scoring as before, but also remember he got a lot of easy baskets as the garbage guy on very good Portland teams back in the days.

I'd say Bonzi still looks like he's at least near prime condition. His 3 point shooting sucked last year, though maybe he can get better there (Career 33.5%, actually better than Bob Sura's 32.5% career 3pt%).

I'd imagine he's come off the bench as the sixth man, though, since the Rockets bench look pretty thin on experienced impact players on offense right now and he can make a big difference.

A little burst of hope?! It seems like ever time I have seen this guy play he made a major contribution. I have heard the negatives about him, but he played all out in the games I have witnessed. I would like this team alot better with him, an all veteran starting lineup and a bunch of eager kids on the bench (except Mutombo).

If averaging 20 plus points and 12 rebounds against the spurs is a sign he has passed his prime I'll take the old geezer.

This is great news. I would also consider Bonzi Wells near his prime. Heck, we should get him just so he could play the Spurs more to pad his stats.

I think players like him, playing in a contract year with 2 established superstars realize their place and will fit in more than in a situation where they are asked to lead, or do more than they are really capable of doing.

He has had some good games under his belt, but overall not particularly impressive career stats. Looks like another journeyman to me. If we can get him cheap, sure why not. But someone else has to go, no?
