As a evangelical, the Jesus Camp bothers me. It's a sick perspective to desire to be like terrorists fighting under the shroud of a religion. That being said, there is absolutely no similarities between the actions of this camp and those of the average or even "radical' youth leader. I can promise you that if you were to attend a typical Christian youth activity, you would have no problem whatsoever with it, no matter your personal beliefs.
You know what I found interesting There was an abortion clinic in a building i was in they did not allow children in there I wondered why Liberal or Conservative - They both have their Extremes Rocket River
I guess My Question to the BBS is this What Ideals *are* worth Fighting for? Worth being a Warrior for? Rocket River
If the President was a Democrat, would the Jesus camp have his picture up and would the kids be praying for him? I personally don't think you buy your own bull.
They'd have his picture up on a dartboard, and the kids would be praying for his demise. The Religious Right has been PWND by the Bu****es and Neo Cons, and they're too stupid to realize it.
As for the pictures of George Jr., maybe these folks need a refresher on the 1st of the 10 Commandments, "I AM THE LORD THY GOD, THOU SHALT NOT HAVE strange gods BEFORE ME." They don't come any stranger then George Jr.
Excelent, excelent. You must capture thier minds when they are young. Props out to the Gop on this one. It's very similar to the nazi youth groups in Germany. If you want to be a great, powerful success like Hitler, you must realize how important the youth is to this nation.
I have been inside several large "conservative" "evangelical" churches where the pastor had congregational prayer for President Clinton and other leaders of this country. I'd guess about 80%+ of the people voted against him.
I have as well. I would say that I'm an "evangelical" as defined here... and my family has voted democrat in every political office at some point or other. It really is conveinient to act like you know what evangelicals as a whole do just because this lady and her "camp" is a little bit on the edge of strange to the outsider. At our church we pray for the "school board to the highest positions in government" on a regular basis. It's been my policy for years, and I've seen it done for decades. Nothing new. I will admit this movie looks like there is a line being crossed... but without knowing first-hand, I'll reserve full judgement... After all, with the "same measure" I'll be judged.
Sure, and there's nothing wrong with that. My criticisms were of this specific camp and that the practices and teachings that are going on here are a little too much. I understand the value of teaching spirituality and religion. There's nothing wrong with teaching the bible and biblical ethics and what not. Where it goes too far, in my opinion, is the injection of politics and political issues.
I thought the point in Christianity was that Jesus died for our sins, so that we would not have to...... Ah, the wacky world of religion. DD
