i always manage to drive by this place on sunday late afternoon and the patio area is always packed. the music is always loud as hell and sounds like some kinda techno stuff. it's on montrose. wtf is this place and why is it so popular? from the looks of it, it seems like some kind of preppy crowd or something.
It's a tex mex tamale place. They tamales are pretty good, but I'm no expert. I just know they are big and tasty.
i've never been there but my aunts used to get tamales from there all the time. they're pretty tasty.
they have a booth at acl fest. the chicken tamales are really freaking good (3 bucks each). the fish and pork tacos were 6 bucks each, so i passed.
It's where straight Montrose yuppies go to find breeding partners. If you were to drop a bomb there during a patio party, apartment rentals in Montrose would suddenly become affordable for more interesting people.
They serve Baja Mexican food. The fish, shrimp and fajita tacos are all great. The tamales are decent, still think my mom makes better.
ffb isn't interesting? i'm not interesting? darn. ok, so the food is good, but people are usually there sunday afternoons standing shoulder to shoulder with a dj playing stuff. guess i'll make my way there tomorrow for lunch or something. i like the people who roam the neighborhood and go into the most random places selling tamales out of a cooler. i was sitting in a bar talking with a couple of folks and some old lady comes up selling 'em. best tamales i've had in a while.
Sundays that place and La Strada near montrose are hot Brunch spots. Everyone in the industry and hard partiers go up there on sundays to chill kick back some bellinis and hang out.....
The dj is little Martin, usually playing house, latin house, disco, he's very good. The crowd is fun. You should drop in. You can park across the street in the garage at M2M and walk over. Have a drink and vibe.
I think thursdays is 99 cent tamles and friday has 1.99 fish tacos. Place is great, queso is good there also.
