Until it's actually done... I really doubt it's going to be done.

New York already has Latrell Sprewell and Allan Houston. Doesn't adding Shandon Anderson seem redundant?

But if the Rockets would get a big man in return...

Or if the trade deal would mean more cap space....

    ...then go for it !

Would Rudy T still be interested in Marc Jackson , even if Carroll Dawson said it was impossible?

Management must be reading the Clutch BBS board with all the various senarios posted (kidding) with the present logjam at the forward position. Hopefully the Rockets will get some tall timber center-wise. FREDTERP

My money on the return is Travis Knight
    making:

    $3.6M this year
    $4.0M the next
    and
    $4.4M in his final year

He doesn't play much at all for NY (for good reason) but is a big corpse who could be a servicable backup. He would seem to be disposable for NY, and would kinda seem to fit a need, as much as a dead anchor like Knight can. Othella would be great, but if I were NY I'd never do it.

I really think we can get Othella out of this, and he's just who we need too. The Knicks could use a backup shooting guard, as they were very thin last season, and they already have Marcus Camby, Kurt Thomas, Clarence Weatherspoon, and Larry Johnson up front to go along with other backup big men. Glen Rice also plays some decent minutes at the 4, so Othella isn't exactly an untradeable piece. I'm not sure how many minutes they could promise Shandon, but if they offer him big money I'm sure he'll take a few less minutes. :)

A horrible thought came to my mind.I sure hope that we don't get Rice in exchange for Shandon.

One thing to remember with these negotiations is that the Rockets have leverage, unlike the Dream situation in Toronto. The Knicks already spent their 4.5M exception on Clarence Weatherspoon, and you know Shandon won't sign with the Knicks for the minimum. If the Knicks want him, they have to work a sign and trade, and the Rockets can pull the plug if the Knicks offer scrubs. I'm not saying we'd land Marcus Camby or anything, but the Rockets can get someone of quality in the deal, such as Othella Harrington.

I think you could be right Ottomaton, there is a possiblity that Travis Knight could come in exchange for Shandon, but I would let Anderson walk or get a pick instead of getting Knight who doesn't have much to offer us.

How about Kurt Thomas? He wasn't he the leading rebounder in college his senior year? I know his leg is brittle but he might be able to push Cato or at least back him up until Collier is healthy. Having said that Kurt Thomas does absalutely nothing that gets me excited.

Would we take Rice if we could throw in Cato? You cannot do that in a sign & trade can you? I just want Cato gone, just do not believe he will change or improve.

How much would the Rockets pay Shandon Anderson anyway?

How much cap space would be left if they did sign him, and then traded him to the Knicks?

Please explain to me why Houston would have leverage when talking to the Knicks in this situation. Thank you.
