That's all Morency brought to the table. No blocking, his pass catching was ok (he fell every time he went to make a move) and his football IQ seemed low. When DD went down for the year the job should have been his. Instead, he got beat out by a th round draft pick who honestly looked like a practice squad guy on Sunday. It's just like Ragone and the rest of our joke picks, they're wastes. It amazes me that this team didn't prepare for the loss of DD. The signings of Moulds, Flannigan, Putzier, ect.. signifies a team trying to make some sort of run. Those are all solid veterans. Instead we had the number one pick in the draft and I've been impressed with Demeco Ryan and to some extent Owen Daniels. Spencer showed a fire that I liked but he got beata lot. He is a rookie though. I don't understand the hating on Carr but that's a dead horse too. e still have the same problems, no pass rush and a bad secondary. Instead of poor QB play we replaced it with no running game and improved our receiving corps. This team has no direction. I bet Reggie Wayne is going to put Madden numbers up on Sanders.
...We should have kept Jonathan Wells... And if Samkon is having trouble picking up the zone-blocking scheme in GB, what makes us think he's going to pick this scheme up any better? Are we going to alternate between Kubiak's Denver system and Mike Sherman's system (or are they the same?) I actually like this trade, really...
Go back and watch the video. He out ran the entire Lions defense. This is a good move. He'll be 3rd string this week, but will move up quickly and probably be starting in 2 or 3 weeks. The run game against Indy doesnt look good. Carr is going to get pounded because there is essentially no reason to worry about the run. I hope the O-line figures something out this week.
Cool, I like this clip better..The clarity and closeness of the camera is first rate and the commentating is better as it comments on his badazz highsteppin' http://www.nfl.com/rookies/winners/2005_week14 Oh my Gado...I hope we get a running game soon
This is a slight upgrade in the RB situation. Dayne must not be impressing them in practice. Oh what could have been. Lets go Mario, make us not regret it.
I am not criticizing the trade... seems parallel move at worst and an upgrade at best. But that clip of him outrunning DET was pre MCL injury (that wasn't operated on, btw). How is his running now? My question about speed was more general, anyway. DD doesn't have breakaway speed. Dayne does not have breakaway speed. Sure wouldlike to see gamebreakers in there... at any position.
I dont see how you came to that conclusion. Dayne will get most of the carries against Indy. We traded a third stringer for a guy that has at least a chance to be second string.
I really don't know what some guys have against morency. both he and lundy were underwhelming in the first game, and gado was terrible, and morency was probably better of all three during the preseason. remember the rams game, remember him running over guys to the end zone. there was no dancing. I don't understand the move, I don't understand you guys' reaction.
I agree. I do not see anything better out of Luny than Morency. I thought Morency outperformed him in the preseason, so I dont understand why he was traded
Really? While their stats are almost identical, Lundy showed me consistency throughout different games while Morency got the bulk of his numbers in one game. I think the main reasons why Morency was traded was his running style and inability to pick up his blocks. There were already rumblings about Morency having problems picking up the system during the preseason. And even though he has a lot of speed, it seems like Kubiak has a strong idea of what type of runners he will use here. But we need stop talking like Morency was our star RB. We traded a 2nd year RB for another 2nd year RB who has had more carries, yards, and TDs. It's a lateral move at worst.
at worst we traded for damaged goods, apparently because this guy was on is way out in GB anyway and mike sherman vouched for him. morency missed one block in the eagles game and people act like he was totally adverse to blocking. he was also the better blocker in the preseason.
I don't think it was his missed one block that made Kubiak decide to trade him. I've tried searching for it but there was an article put out by the Chron that talked about Morency having problems with the new offense. Also, I never said that Morency is totally adversed to blocking. I just think that maybe that he isn't that good at it. At 5-9, 212lbs, he is definitely the smallest back out of the group. But if Gado is damaged goods, well this whole debate is moot. We'll see though.
