The 2.29m Bradley was born in Germany, the reason why he could apply for a German passport, and will join fellow Maverick Dirk Nowitzki on the national squad. The German basketball federation said there are a few official steps still to be taken, including notifying US officials, but these are formalities. Bradley is expected to join the German team for the European Championships in Turkey starting on August 31 - if he has completed a rehab for a knee operation at the end of the NBA season. His new country has never been a basketball power, but Germany may now become a medal hopeful at major championships with Bradley - known for his shot-blocking - and Nowitzki, one of the NBA's top new stars.
