That's what I was thinking ... trying to disassociate himself somewhat. I hate to think that...you'd think he'd cherish those years despite what happened in the end. I wonder how long Calvin has been without it? (I'm assuming he's not the one selling it here).
Could Calvin take back the ring if it were given to him if someone were to do such a thing? Would he be too proud? Would he break down? Dunno.
I'd pitch in up to $100 for the charity deal, as long as it gets back to Calvin. Why does it say 1 of 2? Did Calvin get two rings that year?
From the Auction: This ring was presented to HOFer Calvin Murphy when the Houston Rockets won the 1994-1995 NBA Championship and is one of two known. Seems like a sort of authenticated replica kind of deal to me.. so maybe he still has his ring and all the sympathy for Calvin isn't needed.
You guys are seriously considering buying it and giving it back? I'll laugh my ass off when he puts it back up on eBay with a 'Buy it now' at double of what you guys paid just to see if you guys would do it again.
Yeh if it truly is Calvins I'll pitch a 100$ in. But it does say 1 of 2 ect.. so if anyone can find out, then I'm in. The way I see it, look at the positives Calvin gets his ring back with the emotional feedback that the fans truly still care about him and wish him the best Shows the Rockets management that we don't think Calvin is a bad person and deserve shis job back Free publicity for clutchfans, after the chronicle picks it up, it will probably get a 30-1minute segment on sportcenter Shows that rocket fans are truly the best fans of the nba
Often, multiple rings are made for each person in the organization. If you note in the description, it says that this is one of TWO known to exist. My guess is that Murphy has the other one and this one came into possession of the HOF or whoever is selling it as memorabilia.
this has to be what it is. if calvin was ever down enough to where he needed to sell his championship ring for 2 grand, i think worrell would spot him the money.
Calvin was retired a decade before this champoinship. This is not a player's ring. He did not sweat for it. The sentimental value is a lot lower.
