I'm now working in south Houston over by the original Ninfas on Navigation. Where can I gt some spring rolls cheap around here? I don't want to tip a waitress too. I would like some rolls and a drink for under $6. Kim Son is too much (unless lunch is cheaper and I can sit at a bar etc) and I don't want to deal with parking downtown. Anyone know anything? I didn't see much by me on google. thanks.
can you get to midtown ok?? Mai's is fantastic. it's my favorite Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant in town. they have excellent spring rolls. http://www.maisrestauranttx.com/
I could maybe make it midtown. but does it meet the under $6 requirement? I'm on a quest to find under $6 dollar lunches around me (no fast food).
looks like you could get the spring rolls on the appetizers for $5.95, given the menu on their website. but with tax and tip, you'd be going over $6.
yeah, kim son is also $5.95 but maybe it is cheaper for lunch it isnt listed. but I could maybe sit at the bar so I wouldn't have tip? Or is that bad? I really don't want to spend 8 bucks on 4 spring rolls. I might just check it out since it is closest. I was hoping to kind a more low key pho place around here.
I also recommend Mai's... maybe while you on your way out of the office, you can bum some change from co-workers or on the way to your car you can scrounge up a few extra coins from the ground to help you over that $6 mark.
How about a Banh Mi sandwich for less than $3 at Cali Sandwich on Travis near Elgin. You can get a BBQ pork sandwich on french bread, bbq pork, cilantro, lettuce, carrots, mayo type spread and fresh jalapenos for about $2.50!! They also make them with chicken and tofu. Les Givral's also makes super cheap Banh Mi sandwiches!! I recommend them if you've never had a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich. They rock!
mai's is garbage. you shouldnt be paying $6 for spring rolls. go to any of those vietnamese sandwich shops around midtown or by the convention center. probably can get a sandwich, springrolls, and drinks for $6.
Mission Accomplished! I drove to Kim Son because it was close but ended up going to Thiem Hung Sandwich right behind it. 3 big ass spring rolls w/ shrimp and ham = $3.50 bottled water = $1.00 grand total = $4.54 The only downside is that they had no diet soft drinks so I got the bottled water (better for me anyway). The spring rolls had ham in them hich I have never had but it was good. I will be going there quite often now.
What's the name of it? We have a deli in ours that is so over-priced and the service is so terrible that it makes it such a tragedy that they have the best bacon I've ever eaten. Seriously though, next time they sigh whenever I order a $5 tuna sandwich, I'm strictly ordering bacon only.
I thought I would be the only one who didn't like Mai's. Mai's is overpriced for the small quantity of food you receive. I tried some of their dishes...and their food is the same as cheaper fast food restaurants.
