Omg I hate that shoulder lean song. I think hip hop now is just trying to be catchy and recycled in clubs. but I still listen to it more than anything else.
I never understood the big deal about his "genius" and everything, maybe cause I never really got into rap music or the culture. I've read his lyrics and although they deal with social issues and speak to certain groups of people, I was kind of disappointed in general. I guess I was expecting something really amazing and poetic...but they're as poetic as rap lyrics get, i suppose. If I had to choose 2 rappers to listen to, it'd be Tupac and Nas...I can find myself really get into their music. Maybe it's cause they don't solely write about makin money and ****ing hoes.
He loved Death Row. He lived it. It's easy to blame Suge, but Suge wasn't brainwashing Pac. A lot of his best work came during the Death Row era. Unfortunately, it's been imitated to the state hip hop is now, or was before dirty south hiphop became mainstream. The most memorable characters aren't entirely good or evil.... I bought into the warrior poet label, but his actions cheapened his words. The records were platinum selling. He didn't force the issue...he became an issue. Maybe because he knew he was about to reap what he sowed. Did he think he'd become another Malcom? He didn't have a Malcom-like epiphany and change for a greater cause. And he was killed over a beef. It's tragic because he isn't a martyr in that sense. I watched as much as I could. I haven't read his book yet.
I can't believe its already been 10 years! It seems like yesterday, and I can remember where I was and what I was doing when it happened. Rocket River is correct, Pac is to hip/hop-rap what B Marley is to reggae, elvis to rock n roll, marving gaye to r&b and so forth. He was so talented and was a poet first and foremost. His lyrics are so thoughtful and relevant to this day. I can jam "Me against the world", "all eyes on me", and "Makaveli-the don killumenati: the 7 day theory" like they are brand new albums. Sadly after he and Biggie died, rap just hasn't been the same. Nas, Jay, Em, Face, LL are all very good but can't compare to Pac. Personally, the closest we have seen to Pac is DMX. I know some think he has declined but listen to his lyrics. Dude is raw but thoughtful lyrically and tells stories, complex personality, awesome delivery and such a rough voice that just draws you in. Pac was great but to say he should be remembered like Martin luther king is ridiculous. King helped bring about change that revolutionized this country. Pac had good intentions and tried to bring about awareness and change but his passion and hatred for bad boy did him in. The saddest thing is that he was multi-talented: very good actor, poet, rapper, public speaker...and so young (only 25) He really began to change once he joined Death Row. I am not saying he was "brain washed" by Suge, but he was driven by his hatred for P Diddy/Biggie and Bad Boy who he truly believed tried to kill him when recording All Eyes On Me in a NY studio. After that, there was no stopping him. Sadly, I believe P Diddy's phony ass had something to do with both their deaths, because he profitted like crazy off of Biggie's death while at the same time eliminating the competiton which was death Row who was pretty much carried by Pac. Without Pac, death row went down the drain. R.I.P Tupac a.ka. Makaveli P.S.: Please quit releasing Pac material pasted onto weak artists who he would NEVER have worked with
what you talkin bout? there is a clutchfans member (i cant remember) who knows who killed tupac. he just needs the gas money to drive to vegas and tell the police.
if you want someone that is alot like pac (greatest ever R.I.P) then listen to some z-ro he is from houston and his lyrics r so poetic and talk about the evryday life along with political stuff hes def. the closest thing to pac...... he even kinda sound like pac
A lot of Tupac's music doesn't hold up well for me ~ strong raps over weak beats/ samples. All the over the top cheesy background singers annoy me as well ~ seems like every song has an overdone chorus. Pretty much everything else that continues to be released as ‘new’ after his death has watered down his legacy as well. That sounds pretty harsh and it doesn’t speak to all his music of which there are still classics that sound fresh, but you have to pick and choose them from different albums.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD YES H*ll . . People he DISSED on his last album before he died started having song with him . . I thought that was just wrong To this day . . i dispies Snoop for his behavior after 'Pac's death [Among other things snoops does] If your boy. . your good friend. . . alledgedly . . Legitimately thought someone tried to KILL HIM . . . How you gonna be hanging out with them and recording with them less than a year after he died. . . Snoop is forever a punk to me. . a Chump . .a G*DD*MN SCOTTIE PIPPEN Rocket River
RIP+ I remember the day the radio announced he was dead. I couln't believe it. Very talented man. Aren't they making a movie based on a screenplay he wrote? I know he wrote a couple of screenplays he left behind.
I think you have to pick and choose from the stuff released after he died. I can listen to the albums with Me Against the World and All Eyez on Me straight thru with no problem. Same for Makeveli.
oh gnoes. Debbie Downer and sister strike again. I'll echo the sentiments in here that new rap sucks, because it all does. 99% of the mainstream rap on the radio is terrible, simply garbage. Even the rappers with some talent p***y themselves out just to get some radio play. To me, you can't just read tupac's lyrics and call him a lyrical genius. You understand where he comes from, you hear the strain in his voice when he talks about hard issues, you feel the flow man, you feel the flow. RIP Pac. G.O.A.T.
interesting deathrow is connected with murder inc. and rap a lot in which all three are connected with even a bigger force coming from the south way south..
