Um, while I hate traffic cops too, this is really an unfair label. Cops enforce all laws, not just the big ones, and the big ones have dectectives working on the cases...and I'm sure if someone is getting "robbed, killed, or beat-up" cops nearby are going to stop that too. Besides, those crimes aren't really that big in Sugar Land, unlike say D.C., and people break traffic rules everywhere so it's a big money maker. They really need to put those cop cars on bellaire in asian town. Worst drivers in Houston by far. Damn it, stop turning from the left side of the island!
You should have stopped right there. That's exactly the point: it's a big money-maker for the PD, it helps pay for those nice rides and pay their salaries, it's huge business; I personally knew cops who admitted as much to me, and said they get directives from their superiors to 'step up' traffic enforcement to increase revenue, especially when they're in a crunch. So that's just how it works. I don't really have a problem with it since it's still enforcing the law, whether they make money out of it or not. However, it's 'big business' for the PD.
Stop speeding and breaking the law and you don't have to worry about them hiding out with no lights on.
haha yeah i totally agree.. i find the majority of cops "take advantage" of their position.. basically because they CAN. But that's another story.. I hate cops who sit around like they're fishing for people speeding rather than doing REAL police work. It's one thing for a cop to be on his normal routine and seeing a car arrogantly bolt past him, and another thing for a cop to be hiding behind a tree or other barrier waiting until the next unsuspecting driver blows by. I don't buy the "save some gas money by not patrolling". We're already paying their salaries with our tax dollars and they're using their time on the job to sit around catch speeding drivers? That by itself is WASTING OUR MONEY. And for what? to increase revenue? Using our money to Make more money of us.. GOOD STUFF! Try saving a life or two.. instead of getting on the next scandal of an unarmed man shot in his back 5 times.
Well by the looks of it, they got some nice shiny new cars so the taxpayers are paying regardless. Atleast be out patrolling rather than sitting there doing nothing. No they cant be everywhere, but they shouldnt be sittin in the same spot for hours on end.
I think his point is if the police is patroling then they are creating a presence that deters crime. The more area they patrol the more of a determent they are. If they sit there and eat donuts, they are not except for the people who happen to see them hidden. Remember, alot of the times they sit there and don't even have their radar one. If you have a detector you'll have noticed this before. So who knows what the heck they are doing there in the median, but it sure ain't deterring much crime.
I got busted by this female Sugar Land cop recently, what pissed me off was it was over a small neighborhood stop sign . The offense was "ran stop sign" yet no stop signed was ran-- my car pretty much came to a stop, but it was not a complete one, so she said. The thing that pisses me off the most is that almost every day that same female cop hides out in an unmarked car busting soccer moms at that stop sign. Its one of those things that is so trivial , and is something that a cop could write a ticket for every minute. Now I believe this particular cop can do about a MILLION better things that could make a difference rather than busting people over "rolling stops". For anyone in the area this cop hides out at the intersection behind Austin Parkway Elementary (no I did not get pulled over during school hours, it was late in the afternoon).
I'll keep that in mind. I also have seen many of those new Dodge Charger's around. Late at night around here, they do a fantastic job of keeping Whataburger safe and secure.
Haha, the Whataburger and the Taco Cabana further down 6 in Missouri City are both pretty well guarded after midnight.
If you ever had some free time on your hands, you should make a sign that says 'Sneaky cop with nothing better to do' and an arrow pointing to her hiding place and then stand near that Stop sign.
