PHILADELPHIA EAGLES - W @ Indianapolis Colts - L WASHINGTON REDSKINS - L MIAMI DOLPHINS - L @ Dallas Cowboys - L JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS - L (at this point the "bench Carr" crowd gets much more loud and obnoxious.. if that were even possible) @ Tennessee Titans - W @ New York Giants - L @ Jacksonville Jaguars - L BUFFALO BILLS - W @ New York Jets - W @ Oakland Raiders - W TENNESSEE TITANS - W (first real win streak of the franchise, Carr haters stfu finally) @ New England Patriots - L INDIANAPOLIS COLTS - L CLEVELAND BROWNS - W There ya have it, 7-9.
PHI - L @ IND - L WAS - w MIA - L BYE @ DAL - L JAX - W @ TEN - L @ NYG - L @ JAX - L BUF - W @ NYJ - W @ OAK - W TEN - W @ NE - L IND - W CLE - W ----------------- 8 wins - 8 losses (maybe a little too optimistic (realistic 6 wins), but I'll stick with it.) Carr - 3300+ yds passing / 18 TDs - 10 INTs Morency - 1100 yds rushing Lundy - 600 yds rushing Andre Johnson - 1100+ yds receiving / 8 TDs
As an eternal optimist, five wins, maybe, and that may be over the top. I don't see all that much talent, BUT, there are so many new players, coaches, etc., the Texans could be a HUGE surprise. The offensive line is still my biggest concern. They could start off by losing several games (tough schedule), and that could prove fatal for their confidence and the confidence of the fans. Carr's sacks will be the barometer of the team's success.
I'll be the first to say 16-0!!!!! Super Bowl Champs!!! Ok, realistically I think it depends on the Philly game. If we win the first game I think the Texans will carry the momentum and go 8-8. If we lose then their record will be 5-11.
I had been high on them ever since we got Kubiak and Moulds, and was thinking 7 wins, +/- 1 depending on how well they developed. Today, PHI - W @ IND - L WAS - L MIA - L @ DAL - L JAX - L @ TEN - W @ NYG - L @ JAX - L BUF - W @ NYJ - W @ OAK - L TEN - W @ NE - L IND - L CLE - L 5-11 CLE should be a win, but I'll never forget the way this team quit and mailed it in against them two years ago and let 8-8 slip out of their hands. I'm very down on Carr and his continuing regression after watching him in preseason action (and I was excited about Kubiak turning him around). If he continues to have panic attacks in the pocket, Moulds and Johnson go to waste. With Davis done (period?), the runnning system is gambling heavy on the Broncos scheme magic. Mario Williams looks pedestrian, relatively speaking, as a #1 pick, though Ryans looks fantastic. The Palpatine-like cutting of so many ex-reigme linemen may make sense long-term, but could leave us weak this year. I sincerely hope Carr turns things around and becomes the QB he should be. If he does, we'll be dangerous. If he can't get over his PTSS, we're cooked. Evan
Optimistically, I'd say 7 or 8 wins. Realistically, I think 6-10 and possibly 5-11. Any less than 5 wins and I will be disappointed. From the way they have looked so far in preseason, there is no reason this team can't win at least 5 games. And I'm happy they are cutting loose all the dead weight contracts. Sure, it will hurt our cap next season, but if they cut out the practice of giving players contracts they don't deserve, then we will eventually be the better for it.
7-9 for me. people forget that 2 years ago this team (with less talent) went 7-9, and that was with pathetic coaching. .
That was when they had a veteran defense that kept them in games, a break out rookie season by DRobinson and David Carr still threw passes to Andre Johnson.
8-8 Morency emerges as the RB over Lundy because of his speed and blocking. He gets 1200 yards. The defensive unit rises to above middle of the pack in points, takeaways, sacks, and most other defensive measurements. Our weakness defensively will be against the long pass, the post timing routes. Our special teams struggle as Buchanan drops a few punts and Mathis stays in the doghouse when he returns from injuries. Charles Spencer becomes our Fridge Perry in goal line situations. Our TEs catch 60 balls and help open up the passing game for Carr, AJ, and Moulds. We lose a couple games that are high scoring with both teams over the 30s by giving up long pass or a stupid penalty late in the game. We win one game that is a high scoring affair with a last minute drive down the field after a blocked field goal. Phillip Buchanan folds up and craters halfway through the season, leaving us extremely short handed and dependent on inexperienced players in the backfield. Kris Brown has a great comeback season and is one of the top 5 kickers in the NFL.
Start out 1-4. Carr is awful, gets benched. Turn it around and finish 8-8 with promise for next year. Ron Dayne will be our #1 guy, will surprise. Reggie Bush wins rookie of the year and tears it up. VY will start by the 5th game of the season and do decent. Mario will be solid, but nothing special. We will regret not drafting Bush, but Dayne's productivity will help ease the pain. RIP David Carr and Domanick Davis.
16 and 0, baby. Mario Williams gets 16 sacks (one per game), Carr throws 25 touchdown passes and runs in for 5. We're playing the NFC East so there's 4 wins already.
