Giving a player like Reggie Evans a 5 year contract is crazy IMO. I suppose if his salary is low enough they could trade him. Certainly that has to be part of their thinking. http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci_4287073 Nuggets to re-sign forward By Marc J. Spears Denver Post Staff Writer The Nuggets are getting bigger with the re-signing of power forward Reggie Evans. Denver has agreed in principle to sign Evans to a five-year deal that will be signed this week, according to an NBA source. While the financial terms have to be finalized, Evans, 6-feet-8, 245 pounds, is expected to get less than the team's available full mid-level exception that would pay $5.215 million next season. Nuggets director of player personnel Mark Warkentien declined comment. The Nuggets have 14 players on the roster, including eight power forwards or centers, not including Carmelo Anthony and Linas
Power forward and Centers are the left handed relievers of the NBA. No matter how bad you are, you're pretty much guaranteed a job...
What the heck are Nuggets doing with 10 PFs and Centers incl. signing of Reggie Evans? Is CD looking in the direction of Denver? Denver got player Rockets need.
Yeah, but you don't have many players that would fill our needs. This is all about tradable assets. Rumor has it it was either we re-sign Evans or Bonzi Wells. This tells you how comfortable the Nugs were with the thought of Wells behaving for an entire year.
WTF? Between this and giving a zillion dollars to Nene, the Nugz front office is giving Isiah a run for his money.
i dont understand that signing. nuggz already have plenty of front court help. All i can think of is that they are positioning themselves for a trade.
And they fired Kiki for this, give Nene that huge contract and sign Evans for 25M dollars. They do have way too many big men and have signed too many big contracts, are the Nugs that sure they can dump K-Mart his salary this year.
We have a lot of guards. Guarantee, young and fresh. No more old and rotten ones. Good for value. Best buy. Seriously Nuggets have a lot of work to do before the new season start.
And how about the fact that they seemingly bid against themselves? Was anyone else offering more than half the MLE? Not that I heard.
Another potential (maybe) option for the Rockets off the drawing board. I see us as a slow, less skilled Phoenix Suns at the moment.
That is bizarre. And aren't the Nuggets also interested in picking up Bonzi Wells? They might set a record for technical fouls next year.
You see a team based around a dominant center/small forward combo as some version of the Phoenix Suns? Does that mean that Amare and Marion are like Yao and McGrady? The Suns seem like the team that is the most polar opposite of the Van Gundy Rockets.
Good. I hope this stops all the posters who wanted the Rox to pursue this guy. $5M per year for a garbage man with no mid-range game and can't hit FTs. No thanks. What are the Nuggets thinking spending $15M in PFs that are no better than average, all while they're already paying $10M-plus to undersized underachiever in Kenyon Martin. That's half the salary cap in PFs alone. People complain about why haven't the Rox done more this offseason. I'm so glad we're not the Nuggets. We've spent our dollars efficiently while they've bankrupted their future. CD/Morey - keep sticking to your guns and don't pay star money to no-star talent.
