This race seriously confuses me. On the left, Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy (http://www.kilroyforcongress.com) spells out her positions on the Iraq War, Health Care, Medicare Part D, Budget, Veterans, Minimum Wage, Tax Relief, and Stem Cell Research. To me, these are a fairly well rounded list of things to focus on for a Representative candidate. On the right, Republican Deborah Pryce (http://www.pryce4congress.com) only mentions her policy is to lower taxes for businesses, and she has strongly condemned Sexual Trafficing and she removed boundaries on racial adoption. Her main page includes very little about the Pryce policies and insteads smears Kilroy's name. I want to be impartial in this election, looking at both candidates positions on many issues and see what they want to do with their job, but with Pryce's website I cannot do it. I relize that this is not your state, but the question remains. How can I, a voter, gain a better understanding about a candidate if their website does not include their information? Should I assume both will be partisan hacks and just vote for the Democrat since I am a liberal (and the Republicans hate liberals)?
A lack of information can be used as a judgement criteria for a canidate... If a candidate doesn't spell out her position and you don't know what they will do in office, then you shouldn't be voting for that person, unless you just vote party line.
To vote for the Democrat, but that is unfair to me. Just because they have a D next to their name does not mean they receive a free vote from me.
Then march yourself down to Deborah Pryce's campaign headquarters, show your voter's registration card and explain that her website does not answer questions you have. Ask her -- or at least one of her aides -- about her exact positions on each of the issues with which you are concerned. Write your questions down before you go. Be polite but insistent. Explain that if she wants you and your neighbors' votes, she'll have to earn them.
Disagree. Being a slave voter to one party or the other often results in electing that monkey Dubious fears.
Sometimes one party is so egregious that it makes you vote the other way just to even it out... NOW is one of those times. DD
Disagree. There are too many crazies on both sides of the fence to just close one's eyes and, in this case, pin the the tail on the donkey.
Um, minus the fact I am a second year at Ohio State stuck in Texas with nothing to do until Saturday, there is nothing else worth mentioning. The point is that I should be able to actually decide on why I would or wouldn't vote for the Republican candidate rather than just going with the Democrat. At least Kilroy explains herself. If I didn't agree with her policies, I would probably still vote for her since I know what I am getting into. Ignorant voting is no better than not voting at all. Learn. Vote. Flourish.
Exactly. However, if you want definitive answers, go to the source. If you want opinions, roll your questions around in boards like these.
Ask her? Alternatively, do you agree with Kilroy's stances on the issues that are important to you? If you do, there is no real need to investigate the views of other candidates. If you don't, then I refer you back to the above link. Here are Pryce's positions as defined by Project Vote Smart. Happy to be of help.
thumbs, if one continues to vote for the owner of the plantation, despite being treated as a "slave," that would make the person rather thick in the head, wouldn't it? Keep D&D Civil.
Of course ask her -- or at least one of her aides. If one doesn't have the ability to find her campaign headquarters or the courage to go to the source to get answers -- or if one is too lazy to do either -- then one should not vote. Azadre is looking for answers from his/her future U.S. Representative, the federal official who should be the most responsive to him/her. Remember, Senators represent whole states, but U.S. Representatives represent neighborhoods. SM, just because they are running for high office doesn't mean they are exalted in any form or fashion. Some may think it, but that doesn't make it so -- unless we the people let it be so.
I wasn't questioning you, I was offering a suggestion to Azadre, and providing the means to ask her with the link, just to clarify. Generally, if I am commenting on a particular post, I will quote the relevent part. No big deal.
