I have three avi files I want to put on a dvd so I can watch them on my television. When i try to use nero to burn it I get this error. Anyone know what I can use to burn a dvd with nero? One or more files could not be added to a compilation. The following files may not reside in the VIDEO_TS directory of a DVD-Video compilation. Only compliant DVD-Video files VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VTS_nn_0.IFO, VTS_nn_0.VOB, VTS_nn_0.BUP and VTS_nn_m.VOB can be added to the VIDEO_TS folder. Please add files from a completed DVD-Video title or use an authoring software like NeroVision Express to create DVD-Video files from standard video files such as *.avi and *.mpg. I am not sure if you can go from avi to dvd using Nero. This DVD Player will play avi/divx files, and its only $40 at Best Buy.
Some AVI files are a big hassle because there's different types of encoding. It's kind of interesting to learn how to make dvds... http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/avi_to_dvd_avi2dvd.cfm
There's a free program out there called DvixtoDVD that works perfectly. It converts the file and then automatically starts Nero and burns it.
I use this program to burn to DVD (don't know why you'd want to burn to CD unless you want to make a VCD): http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Video_and_Animation_Tools/dvdSanta.html If you're putting a show like Weeds onto DVD, I'd reccomend putting 3 or 4 episodes per disc. You can queue up the episodes in DVD Santa and it will shrink or expand them to fit onto a 4.7 gigabyte DVD. The output is two folders: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. There will be nothing in the AUDIO_TS folder. All you have to worry about with Nero is putting all of the contents from the VIDEO_TS folder into the VIDEO_TS folder in Nero. Use "Burn DVD video files" and drag all the files into the red VIDEO_TS folder. Click "burn the current compilation" and that's it. I use DVD architect to burn because it actually burns a "lead in." I've had a lot more luck with it than Nero. Of course all of my burning is for back up and archival purposes of DVDs that I have purchased.
BTW, the only codec package you need is FFDshow. Google it and download it. It has every codec you need and organizes them very well. Just install it and uninstall any other codec packages b/c it might cause conflicts.
