I heard Bullard say that other teams were interested in him. Let's say the Rockets want to give playing time that Bullard would have gotten to Dan Langhi, so Langhi could develop. What is the possibility we could sign and trade Bullard for 2nd round draft pick to free up some cap room? Keep in mind this would also free up a roster spot. Comments anyone?>
You can't trade the Bull, man. That would piss off a lot of fans and that would look bad for their public relations. Besides, who would broadcast the Comets games?
Bullard also said that if he couldn't sign with the Rockets he'd go fishing or something rather than play for another team. He won't get much PT, and if we don't plan on playing him, I think he's probably end up just retiring. And I don't think anyone will give up even a 2nd rounder for a three-pt specialist.
List the teams that Bullard would want to play for and have caproom to take on his salary without sending back salary in return. Here is the list of teams that I came up with: Mango
Are you daft? Bullard provides so many things to this team. Besides the obvious three point shooting, he's a damn good fisherman, and no one else on the team can sport a goatee in quite the same way. Thanks Matt.....for everything.
Trade Bullard! Are you crazy. He is the elder statesman in the locker room. He is our last link to our two championships. He may only be a three point specialist, but with the zone next year his value may be enormous!
He will be on the Rocket bench, either as a player or an assistant coach. He will "not" be on another bench.
This is all I have to say. "Air Bull, Air Buuuulll, Can't Stop Bull! The only thing we have to fear...is Matt Bullard." nuff said Hey, what happened to the Air Bullard site anyway?
Trade Air Bullard?? You're out of your skull. I hear that because Hakeem skipped town, that yet-to-be-built statue in front of the new basketball arena will now bear the likeness of Matt Bullard... Really, though, who else on the team is going to shoot straight from the hip with the media? Where else will we get classic Rockets quotes? Bullard may not be Barkley, but at least he doesn't say PC things like this (at least not most of the time he's asked a question): "My hat goes off to my teammates. We played through everything.*" "We showed what being on this basketball team is all about tonight.*" "The better team won. They outplayed us. They deserve it. I tip my cap to them.*" Those quotes are just plain boring and trite. I interviewed Sam Cassell for my high school newspaper (many years ago), and he said pretty much the same thing over and over again (something about winning championships). At least Bull is honest and mildly amusing: "My jumper has been working really good in workouts lately. I told the guys, my jumper's not broken, just my back.*" Who could you trade him for, anyway? He's a role player. He's cheap. He's a leader. He can really, really shoot 3s. He's friggin' Air Bullard. *actual honest-to-God quotes
I'm not sure why you'd want to free up cap-space anyway -- what's to be done with it at this point? Bull apparently is mulling an offer from another team, according to the Chron. I can see us doing an S&T as a favor to Bullard if he wanted to play for someone else, just like we had for Olajuwon, but I don't know why we'd want to ditch him.
You can try trading him but you won't get very much for him. Maybe a couple of tickets to see Rush Hour 2
The Airbullard.com site is still up. The guys are just kinda taking the summer off, but they promise some big things with the upcoming season. I know they almost messed their collective pants when they heard rumors of Bull moving to another venue. Who wouldn't be upset if the greatest athlete this city has known moved to another city. That would really blow especially after Hakeem left as well. Thanks Matt....for everything
