    I just have one question.

Where the ^#%# is the defense?

Greece played far superior team basketball. It really openned my eyes that players of less magnitude, if playing as a team, can beat an ensemble of the greatest players in the world. We hung in there purely by our athleticism and individual skills, going 1 on 5 in the entire 2nd half.

And the sad thing is that it almost worked...

    haha..

I am not even sure if I will even watch NBA again next season, this is too depressing. I knew it was comming somehow.

And also this just proves that T-mac is way better than James, and Wade. T-mac got the whole package as Lebron and Wade are yet to get the whole package.

PS- I think someone needs to come up with a poll about Vassilis Spanoulis. We've seen what he can do and now have a pretty good idea of what he should eventually be able to do.

I would create the poll but I dont have complete priveledges yet, being a new member, eventhough I've been reading these boards since way back when and even attended Kenny Smith's Basketball Camp...

Vspan was great. however, i'm bitter that the US lost.
The Greeks were all taller, what has happened to our skilled bigs?
Bosh and Howard were terrible on defense.

We still have Kobe for the Olympics right?

I didn't see that. What I saw is everytime USA would make a comeback VSPAN stuck a dagger in them. He singlehandedly stopped USA. Not saying the Greece didn't have other talented players, Shotsianitis played big and their 3 point shooting was great but Vspan controlled the tempo and flow for Greece and when they needed a guiding force or a clutch shot he came through. I've said this time and time again but the kid is clutch. The more important the shot, the more important the game the better he plays. Add that with the fact he is such a great team player. Hopefully Van Gundy watches this game and gives the kid his due. He definitely can help the Rockets and we need him.

It seems like we didn't really take the game seriously until the second half, and then it was too late. If USA jumped out and attacked greece from the very start we could have built up a big lead. Hopefully we wont make the same mistakes in the olympics.

Yes that is true that VSpan was killing us but he was killing us through Pick and roll and the lack of pnroll defense by USA. So it was USA fault that they let Spanoulis kill them.

Some US players started giving up with still a minute left. This team is talented, and yet inexprieenced. I am disspointed, but hopeful they will do well in Beijing.

Well USA held Greece to 14 points in the first quarter. But the 2nd and 3rd quarters were ugly. Maybe they got complacent and weren't really able to get it back together until it was too late. /sigh

How many more chances should we give Team USA before saying that they are not the best team in the world or is it already too late for USA and after this loss they are definitely not a top team in the world.

Man Im just depressed and embarrased for the USA team for losing, but Im damn happy to have Spanoulis on board for the Rockets. Battier and Spanoulis are way better than I thought, so I guess thats the silver lining.

Well Im off to bed now.

    GO ROCKETS!!

Well, they're the most physically talented team in the world. But in terms of team play, they fell very short tonight.

That's what I'm trying to say whole time in this thread. In this tournament, team works>>individual talents. Perhaps I have even overestimated USA players' talents. They just collapsed in front of Greeks defense.
