I agree it's r****ded to put Yao this low. But I think you guys need to chill. I mean it's not totally unlikely that Yao'll regress back to old number 19/9 to start the season so he's not much better than the other guys statistically yet!

Mejia is a confirmed YOH, probably because he's racist. He has bashed Yao pretty much every article he writes. Now he can't bash any more, lest he reveal his racism, but he can still refuse to give Yao the credit he deserves. At least he doesn't have as much clout as that ****tard Charley Rosen, now THAT'S someone who needs to be silenced.

This is actually really funny. Yao and Shaq are the two best players that play at the Center position. Dwight Howard and Amare are Forwards and if they want to put those two why not include Duncan in the list as well then. He moves to Center when Horry comes in. Dumb list.... next...

Wow, I can't wait for the season to start and have Yao lead in points, blocks, and rebounds for a center. I want to see the fire Yao has shown this year while playing for China. Then I will sit back and wait for all the writers to write about how Yao has an attitude problem and ball hogs too much. They will never have love for Yao..

charley rosen is always spot on. probably the best sports writer out there.

yeah mejia is a racist because he put yao behind 3 black guys. mejia called it like it was. yao is lucky that he doesn't have brad miller and kaman, a couple of crackers, ranked ahead of him. maybe I should move yao down to #6? how do you like that mr. racist?

Amare at center will be killed by Yao if they match up 1-1. Howard seems to have done a better job in the WC. He was able to contain Yao with help from doubleteam.

Amen to that. If you are going to make a dumb ass list, at least be consistent with your dumb ass list. Howard and Amare are forwards, not centers. If you have forwards "that can line up at center" on your list, then it is inexcusable to not have Duncan #1 or #2.

    Idiot.............

Yao Ming is now clearly the best center in the league, any other rating is incorrect. I watched Shaq a good deal last year. He is a shadow of his former self. The Ming/Shaq matchups this coming season will prove Ming's surperiority, Ming will clearly dominate him. I have been frustrated with Ming's passivity in the past but for a stretch last season, Ming became everything I had hoped for. Amare's injury was severe, he, unfortunately will not return to his former dominance. But even when he was in top form he had difficulty with Ming. Howard is a forward. Nobody stops the Shanghi Express.

Yao Ming can be the best center in the league if he plays on a consistant level for 48 minutes, if he does not get into foul trouble and he plays better against Shaq people call Shaq the best center because they feel that he can slow down Yao. To be honest against Shaq i think yao should play a lot more face up and beat him with pump fakes and jumpers. Yao always gets pushed out of position when playing Shaq in the post. He also has to play better defense against sahq in the post not picking up fouls in bunches and falling for Shaqs trick moves. That said look at it this way nSahq has to use trick moves against Yao and with Shaq being the most predictable player in the history of the NBA even now that is saying a whole lot.

Amare and Dwight more so for Amare are not true centers and they are better centers for todays game because while not being as gifted in the post but better at the run and gun. That said I think if Yao can play like he did end of last year with a healthy TMAC he gets about efficent and more dominant because of the 2 to 3 easy baskets he will get because of TMACS presence. :)

those of you on this thread saying Shaq would should still be #1 are cracked, did you guys watch the playoffs? Shaq is on a massive downward slide. Yao is the #1 center if you go off last years performance

The writer is way off - Eric Dampier should be ranked #2.

a couple spots too high, but you are close. I would say dampier is probably the best center in texas. anyone who disagrees is probably racist.

Well sometimes you can only laugh while at the same time lament at these so called NBA experts still bashing and d@ssing Yao Ming, when he has proved himself that he is now, if not exceeding but already breathing down the neck of the Most Dominant Ever.

As Tracy McGrady said in his recent Guangzhou trip, Yao Ming is only behind Shaquille O'Neal for lacking a championship ring. TMAC said the Big Man is as good as and on par with Shaquille O'Neal already, but basketball is a game of 5 versus 5, so given Miami Heat's success in previous season, so at this moment in time, Shaquille O'Neal is still the best centre in NBA. But his days are numbered when Yao Ming and he will take over the league next year. He promised his Chinese fans that by the time of his return to China next summer, he and Yao Ming will bring with them the championship ring.

Who cares what this idiot thinks. Besides Yao was the leading scoring center this past season. I can't wait for this season to begin. This season will be one that the Rockets will once again rise to rule the NBA.
