that's what i was laughing at. I hope someone has a picture when he said it. Like an anchorman type move and kiss them. damn it, someone photoshop Yao kissin his guns.
Definitely. It makes me very happy to hear him become more assertive and demand the ball more. I used to think he'd always be soft, but after watching him play the last half season and the WC, I can't wait to see him progress even more this season.
Is he blaming the roleplayers? Yeah, they suck, but he is their leader. You can't win, if your star center can't grab 1 offensive board from 23 missed shots. He could have had more shot attempts if he chased them boards down.
Mordo As a matter of fact, if you know Chinese and read the original Bastketball Pioneers interivew, he was not blaming his team mates. In a way, he was actually praising them, and said he finally found a team that can be built on for brighter prospects. He said overall he was not totally disappointed with the outcome of the World Championship. It was to him far far better than Indianapolis and Athens where he sees hope and future for his young team. He said in Athens, other than Li Nan, no players can consistently score over 10 points. Now in Japan, a few of them, Wang Shipeng, Liu Wei, Du Feng, Zhu Fangyu, Yi Jianlian, Wang Zhizhi all contributed close to 10 points per game. In that, he viewed it as improvement, as it lessened the load on him in scoring. He said he found it more difficult to score in Athens than in Japan, as he could consistently get 25+ points in Japan due to the help from his team mates. He felt what his team mates curreently lack is experience, physical strength and stamina, and sometimes courage and self-confidence, but all that could be accumulated and improved in the future 2 years.
Yao should try to takeout his frustration in the NBA... i'm tipping yao will average around 26 points and 11 boards...
if he can do what he did in the 2nd half all we need is our other star to shine and were surely back in the race, given that our supporting cast gives us support..
don't underestimate the the critics. i don't think they have it in them to swallow their pride and basically say they were wrong about Yao, which is what they would be doing if they voted him as MVP.
How is Yao's rebounding? I know we all want him to be a dominant big man, and part of that is rebounding and scoring. How come his rebounding dropped to 9, against inferior talents (compared to the NBA). If he's getting boxed out by 2 or 3 people, how is that going to be different in the NBA when he's still getting boxed out by 2 or 3 guys, but who are more physical?
Yao was tripled team in the WC and his teammates crap. in the NBA, i don't think the opponents will be leaving Tracy or Battier all alone all the time. Yao was getting over 10 rebounds consistently before he broke his toe.
