I doubt it, especially when you look at the complexities of what happened. But no matter what wikipedia says, the people who WERE IN CHARGE OF ISRAEL AND THE WAR have made comments about the unneeded actions they took in an effort to grab more land. Nothing you or anyone other than those people themselves can change that, and most of those people are dead.

You can hide your head in the sand and stick your fingers in your ears about it if you wish. It seems like you have a need to paint things into a scenario where one side is good no matter what and the other is bad, no matter what. However, the truth shows that both sides have mistakes, and have started conflicts.

"Pre-empitve strike was defensive in nature" talk about an oxymoron. Heck the Japanese claimed that the attack on Pearl Harbor was defensive in nature as they needed to strike the US fleet before it could be affectively deployed.

Totally agree a prosperous democratic Lebanon would be Israel's best guarentee of security on their Northern border. The IDF has just destroyed any chance of that. In fact Hezbollah has gained more political ground by surviving the assault and now are getting more popularity as they, and not the sorely weakened Lebanese government, are the ones leading the rebuilding of Lebanon.

If the people cheering on the the IDF looked past their excitement of gunfire and explosions they would realize this latest action has made things worse for Israel than better.

Wrong. I have posted these events many times, but I will do so again now.

The zionists and would be leaders of Israel had already started invading Palestinian villages. The Palestinians meanwhile had not ivaded any Jewish settlements.

The troops that were sent in by the Arab nations went in only to secure the areas mandated by the partition, and not as an attack to wipe Israel out.

I choose mine on accuracy. The site is run by a Jewish group, many of the quotes come directly from the leaders of Israel. Others come from the historians that you believe support your version of events. I don't consider Wikkipedia a better source than Edward Said or other experts in the area.

The NY Times even wrote about the Jewish invasion and occupation of several Palestinian villages prior to the mandate's validation.

You can plug your ears, and put blinders on to anything that won't allow you the good guy/bad guy fantasy you desperately cling to, but it doesn't make it anymore right.

The fact is that both sides have done horrible, wrong sides, and neither should be strictly considered 'good guys.'
