Yes, I can't find cctv5 on the new version of pplive either.

However, I just did a bit search and find that one can still access cctv5 through pplive's website.

    http://www.pplive.com/zh-cn/channel_index,e8123a46-9cec-4d14-b3e0-d23f9a3e2a85.html

this is the link for cctv5(700). Click the "play" button and the program will start. (I have a US IP).

The Year of the Yao was in his rookie yr. Im sure a lot has changed in Yao's mind since then. And do you honestly think that Yao thinks he can win a gold in 08? Thats a joke. He wants win a medal and he would be more than happy with bronze. You might be right about him wanting the gold more than a ring which is just ridiculous to me since the HOUSTON ROCKETS pay him the millions. However, China winning gold is just a pipe dream for Yao and all of China's fans so this a non topic.

"I might be right?" I AM right, not MIGHT BE.

Since you seem to be an anti-China troll, let me break it down to you this way. Is Pat Tillman a hero, or a moron? As of yet I have not found any Americans who have the guts to say that Pat Tillman was a moron. Although Yao is not in danger of dying, he also regards his service to his country as paramount. Case closed. Again, you lose.

Seriously you have problems....Why would you even bring up Pat Tillman?....I dont see the relevance. Athletes like Kellen Wislow Jr were scrutinized in the media for relating war to sports. You just dont do it. Also, I have nothing against China or its basketball team. I would love it if it Yao got silver. You need to relax and really think about what you are posting.

How the hell did this thread end up on what Yao wants more, an NBA ring or a gold medal for China. The only person who can answer that is Yao so everyone needs to STFU. :D And who said those two were mutually exclusive?

It is not completely irrelated. According to your logic, it is RIDICULOUS that Yao wants a ring with CNT more than with Rockets because Houston pays him millions of dollars. Isn't it ridiculous that a guy gives up millions of dollars to serve in the army? Dare you say that about Tilman?

I do think Yao wants a ring as much as any other NBA player, and he is really emotional in rocket's victory. But it seems to me Yao does want a medal more, no matter how realistic it is, with CNT. It is his job to serve for Rockets and it is his honor to serve for CNT.

It is also his job and honor to serve his fans who supported him. ;)

I'll make a probably incorrect comparison.

To Yao, China and the CNT is family (just relatives, not as close as parents, wife and kids), where Rockets and the NBA is work.

Now how much do you care about your relatives and how much do you care about your work, it's your call. And I think Chinese and Americans would have different answers.

No wonder. Just read a Sina article complaining the WBC organiser changed the time of this game twice yesterday and was finally fixed at 8:00pm Sapporo time. I guess that's 2:00pm Greece time (?) and 6:00am Houston time. Oh man, these time zones are killing me!

We will have a good game, I mean both Greece and China teams. Enjoy!

BTW, is Nikos Zisis fine now?

[Edit: Oh never mind, I saw you got that in another thread.]

Yes max14. I don't think some posters here (mostly non-asians) understand.

Well I think it's just because of the difference in culture.
Americans care a lot about winning ball games in school, in their leagues. Baseball, basketball, football, ice hockey etc. Whole families go and support a child who is playing for the school. But their players (especially basketball players) don't care too much about their national team, as compared to the safety of their career and the NBA ring. It's undeniable. Superstars don't really take pride in being called up to the national team practice. They have all these excuses that they are injured, family issues, getting married etc.

It's different in most of Asia, including China. For Asian players, the national team is the ultimate glory. Playing in local league is a job, nothing more. Parents are usually not too enthusiastic to go and watch their child playing for the school or whatever team except for national team. Ordinary people don't care much about what club/team you play for in the league. But you will be respected if you are a national team player. If a player is injured and forced to be dropped from the national team, he is so dissapointed that he cries. Getting injured in the national team is an unfortunate event, not a lucky break like for some NBA players. If we have a national team callup, we might even postpone marriage dates. We don't plan marriage so that it conveniently coincides with the national team training.

So, it's natural that some of you think it's bull**** that Yao cares more about CNT than NBA ring. But we who come from where Yao came from, we know what we are talking about.
