We need a President this country can get behind, someone that understands the value of strong diplomacy and foreign policy. True story: Ronald Reagan was visiting the UK and riding with the Queen of England around Windsor park in a carriage together. Well the horse was farting like crazy, and the queen turned to RR and said. "I am sorry Mr. President, there are just some things that royalty and government can not control" Reagan looked at her, and said " That is alright m'am if you hadn't have said anything, I would have thought it was the horse" I mean....man....that guy was a leader !! Come on Sam, have a little sense of humor....sheesh ! Bill Clinton was not bad, if he could have kept out of the news for his bad deeds, he could have done better. But Reagan just united the country and was a gr8 President. DD
1. He very nearly bankrupted the country 2. He provided money, arms and training Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, and their forces. People who glorify Ronald Reagan fail to see how his shortsightedness lead to problems we are still dealing with more than 20 years later. Unfortunately, George W. Bush has the same shortsightedness, and he is causing problems that we will be dealing with for the next 50 years.
RMTex, Budgets are approved by Congress, but certainly Reagan's trickle down economics got the country moving forward, but his budget deficit was huge, but it pales in comparison to Bush Jrs. DD
i like that nancy reagan started the tradition of not bowing to queen elizabeth, it was a huge deal at the time i think. now i don't think anyone other than silly brits bow in front of her.
"We need another Ronald Reagan" ... so AIDS can go rampant, federal budget deficit can skyrocket, global arms race can heat up, S&L industry can go bankrupt, fundamental government management can be abandoned in favor of rhetoric and imagery, alternative energy R&D can put to back burner, housing and urban development can grow scandalous, homeless and poor can go to hell, and we can feel good about morning in America?
