A member of this place was responsible for something very generous. So generous in fact I fought back tears as I witnessed the emotion that was caused by their kind gesture. Two poverty stricken people tonight rest easier because they no longer have to ride the bus in 100 degree heat, and their new born baby will have diapers and clothes to last them for many months. Thanks Man, you represent all that is good among us. And to think without CF.net this blessing may have never come into fruition. Tomorrow, I'm making someone smile...off stage.
A few weeks ago I went into CVS with my wife to buy some advil on the way to dinner. A homeless guy who was seated outside asked me for a dollar. I told him I would give him one on the way out. I ended up buying him a bottle of powerade and gave him a buck. He seemed more happy about the powerade than anything else.
Don't trust homeless people in Hawaii. Actually, use physical violence against them if at all possible without being arrested. Trust me.
i always try to make people at work smile and/or laugh everyday. you would be amazed how far a simple smile can go in changing a persons day. as for possibly changing someone's life i bought two homeless people a lunch buffet meal at an indian restaurant last month they were extremely happy and thanked me profusely. i wasnt sure the restaurant would allow them in but they did since i paid for their meals.
Another Brother, You obviously didn't want to reveal who. I'm okay with that, but I'd still like to know the story if you don't mind. Something like this is worth telling. Even if the person is humble and doesn't want their name revealed. Don Grahamleone
I wrote a note and put it in my daughters lunch box yesterday. When I got home from work she was all hugs and kisses and so happy I don't know why I never put a note in there before. It took 10 seconds and it brightened her whole day.
I played peek a boo with my 5 month old daughter from 530am-6am this morning, and she laughed, cooed, and smiled like crazy. I could have played for another hour if I didnt have a breakfast meeting. It was really hard to leave the house to go to work. (However, I ran into Big Boi from Outkast when walking into the hotel - Mandarin Oriental NYC - where I had the breakfast meeting)
I was at Luby's the other day getting some food to go and before I was about to pay, I heard the older woman ahead of me asking the cashier girl if she was working the next day. Her response was "no way, it's my birthday". So after I payed I said "Thanks, and happy early birthday". Took her a second to realize what I said, but then she was like "awwwww, thank you!". Speaking of Luby's, I always get it to go and I always get a roll with my meal, but if I get stopped at a light where there's a homeless person (there are several in the area) I will give it to them. Sometimes my drink too, if I haven't already started sipping on it. Makes me feel good to give them something I know they'll use positively, unlike money which they could use for whatever.
Giving is always better than receiving. It is funny how good giving makes you feel. (if you are a decent human being).
Agreed... More laughable, but went to a business dinner with about 12 people last night in N. Dallas at a place called Del Frisco's...Very hot host staff and had a great meal...Until, I had desert, a chocolate cake...I was about halfway through when I noticed a very long, hair around the icing... I eat a lot, and when I got another one to replace the hair one, they though I was just being a fat arse...
this thread is hilarious. Now everyone give themselves a big pat on the back for doing what any decent person would do.
