looks interesting i am going to a private screening of it next week with the director i will post my thoughts on it after i see it
I was going to see it at the Melbourne Film Festival, but missed out. I can't see this film getting a general release in Australia anywhere, thank God for the Internets. And, yes, it does look interesting.
Interesting, it looks. Seriously, I've been waiting for this one for a while and I was watching a preview type thing on IFC the onther night.
Great concept. "I love it I love it I love it!" - Helen I am going to make a movie filled with nothing but previews and hire that previews guy for millions: "In a world where all movies have previews... and no one is safe from my voice... [am I really saying this?]... comes a film... about a previews guy... "
Went to a screening of this movie last night with the producer being there. it was a very interesting documentary about how the MPAA goes about rating films. I never realized how Fascist the MPAA really is. They have a secret panel who rate the movies and are very subjective and they vary on why they rate a movie a certain rating. Kirby Dick, the films director, hired a private investigator to find out the identities of all the people on this panel. As a documentay I have seen better but this is worth the price of admission to go see as Dick does keep it humorous and if you are a avid movie fan it opens up a lot of information of the crap filmmakers have to go through to get their film made only to see it scrap but a group of people they will never know. the appeals process is even worse. I am not sure what the reprecussions of the film will be with him revealing the identities of a lot of people, the initial ratings board will probably be re-staffed but what is to stop another director to high a private investigator to leak out info then. I guess in the long run Kirby Dick hopes that it will become public knowledge. The more immediate problem was that he ousted the members of the appeals board, many of whom are ceos/presidents of leading movie theater chains or studios. The irony of this movie was that it was rated by the mpaa as nc-17. 8/10
