They consider A&M 7th best in the country because of all the ROTC students? I don't want to be too harsh on ROTC kids, but I wouldn't consider them in large numbers to be a plus.

For the record, I like A&M, just saying.

Did any one read the criteria?

    ------------------------
Universities should be engines of social mobility, they should produce the academic minds and scientific research that advance knowledge and drive economic growth, and they should inculcate and encourage an ethic of service.
    ----------------------------

I think those are noble goals, but I doubt when most parents are making an investment in a child's education, that is what's on their mind when deciding what's a good school to go to.

    Regarding the thread title:

Umm, it looks to me like MIT is #1 and Stanford is #5. How exactly does A&M at #7 rank ahead of them?

Yeah my fault. I read the article a day earlier so I didn't look at it again before posting. How do I edit?

I guess I still need to keep my bumper sticker. "I just beat up your ridiculously nerdy son while he was at A&M"

I saw a bumpersticker the other day that said: My money goes to UTA. I don't know where my kid goes.

I kinda get where they are coming from with these rankings. Same reason I could never understand why little old no resources Rice is so much more prestigeous nationally than TAMU/UT...

I turned down the 27th, 38th, 44th, 47th overall schools to go to the 88th best school in the country!

But not paying a dime to get a UC education makes up for it!

USC Law School here I come!
