Seriously man, we should be thanking the refs for doing that. The coach kept sticking Yao out there despite being down by 30+ and having 3 more games in the next 4 days.
Is anyone going to tell me if he was in good shape or not? Did he have trouble with stamina? How is his muscle definition looking? I'm not interested in complaining about the CNT. This is the best they have to offer, what can they do but wait for the new generation to develop?
That Can be attributed to having inferior teammates too. it get's him frustrated when he has to carry a bunch scrubs, hence the cheap fouls. the refs are also to blame here 2. noone is denying yao has allways been on the rough end of officiating.
Yao seems to be at about 85%, he's still showin signs of fatigue and runs outta gas quickly. However, his movement in the game was very smooth, and he was agressive when he got the ball. Yao took the ball to the rim on most occasions, and got to the FT line. If the chinese guards were able to throw him the ball down low, Yao would have easily gotten 30+ pts.
This summer I'm actually glad to see Yao playing for China. He will be in perfect shape by the time training camp rolls around with some easy games like this. Playing this mini-tourney is going to help boost his stamina because the games are so close together. As long as he makes it out healthy, this will be a good experience for him.
Despite wrongly fouled out by the referee 5 minutes before end of the game, Yao Ming has a double-double: 21 points (5/8 FG% 11/13 FT%)/10 rebounds/3 assists in 27 minutes of play. Please Click Here For More Photos BOX SCORES
21/10/3 in 27 minutes. That's pretty damn impressive considering that he was playing against essentially an all-star team, and his own team was anything but.
With a descent PG, yao would have totally exploded tonight. i'm not being byest or a homer, but i truly believe yao has been elevated as the best big man on the planet. the big fellow has no peers in the low-post. when he gets going, there is noone who can stop him.
I think China use this game as a practice for the next game,no way coach doesn't know you can't play man-to-man defense agisnt USA if you want to win the game or even make the game close.I think China play zone like 2 mins. Hopefully China can do better in the next 3 games.
Well if not for 2 wrong calls by the referees he will definitely be scoring/rebounding more. That from-coast-to-coast dribble from mid court past 3 US players for a layup should count an And 1, as Shane Battier cut in the lane to stop him. The ball was released before he bumped onto Battier. Yao Ming thought he got an And 1, but instead was called an offensive foul. The 5th foul was a clean block on Chris Bosh, but he was called foul for no apparent reasons. You seldom see Yao Ming as mad as he was with the referees on that 2 calls. Even though China was some 25 points behind at that time, that showed the never-give-up fighting spirit and passion of Yao Ming for the game. But anyway, I think after 2 games, he could be one of the leading scorers and rebounders amongst all players in the World Championship.
He wasn't just mad. He was absolutely furious with the refs, and I saw him screaming at the referees, especially after that clean block on Bosh. His team mates had to stop him from going after the ref.
What's Dirk's stats now? Did Germany play the second game? I think He is the only one in this WC who will get similar, if not better, stats than Yao.
Isn't that all the Rox fans wanted to see? I still remember how his team mates cheered when he got his first technical in NBA.
