As most of y'all know, I drink on the weekends. I'm fairly notorious for it. While I abstain from drinking during the week these days, most know that on the weekends I can drink like a fish. Which brings me to my question. About 6 months ago, occasionally when I drink, I get a red splotchy thing all over my body. While it is invisible in your typical nightclub, when you are around bright lights, it becomes obvious. Does anyone know what this may be? Is it just an allergic reaction, or something more serious? I tried to google it, but came up with nothing. Hoping someone here may know about it.
I eat liver every week, thank you very much! "Oh no you don't liver! Get back in me!" Seriously, if it is just a stupid allergic reaction, then I don't care. I just didn't wat to hear it was "Chrone's disease", or anything like that. BTW, I spoke to finalsbound quite a bit last night. Very sweet girl. I'm rooting for y'all.
Perhaps. But splotchys? Doubtful. And I get plenty of sleep during the week. During the past dat, I still got 5 hours. That's acceptable, right?
thank you very much, it is nice to have support. Next time we're in H-town for a r0x game or what-not we need to chill.
You think, dumbass? I told you I had a couch when you came in. If there was one guy I would like to meet on this board that I haven't yet (b/c I'm always at typically every function. That's why Max got up in some ones craw. He's actually met me, and I'm much funnier when I'm out, rather than through a keyboard) But you declined, and so nowe I feel jilted like an abandoned woman at the alter. I hope you're happy...
OK. I had to look the specifics of this up to remember exactly but here it is: The metabolism of alcohol goes: ethanol to acetaldehyde to acetic acid which is then taken up by the liver and 'excreted'. In that chain of metabolism the most toxic substance is the acetaldehyde. You get the flush when alcohol is converted to acetaldhyde and stuck there for a while before being converted to the next items in the chain and you concequently have acetaldehyde pumping around in your veins giving you all sorts of unplesant effects. There is a gene mutation that is fairly common among peoples of Asia that severely limits the effectiveness of the enzyme which metabolizes acetaldehyde and they get that flush reaction in spades anytime they drink alcohol. Wikipedia has an entry for this under Alcohol flush reaction which explains the particulars.
Not sure this info will help my plight, but I'm damn happy you found something! You've got a walk-in to any Midtown bar if you'd like, from now on.
You might have a mild case of Celiac disease. This occurs when you are allergic to gluten products. Alot of alcohol contains gluten based ingredients. Dermatitis Herpetiformis is the skin condition related with Celiac disease.
I'm quite sure you're an ass... And when they get yellow, I'll let you know. I know your affininity for asians on this board...)
