This just proves who wrong our approach towards the war on terror has been. the terrorists number 1 goal is to cause kaos and plant the seeds of fear amongst us. they want us to have divisions in our society. so in summary, as much as i hate to admit this, they are winning.

Profiling like based on something physical like that is idiotic. Even if we take prejudice out of the equation, it just won't work.

They tried that exact tactic before in the fight against drugs. Latinos coming from S. America were searched. They started using blonde females as mules and getting all of their shipments through.

The Palestinians have done the same thing. They found a girlfriend who was blond loaded with explosives, because she didn't fit the profile. Profiling is a system that will be gotten around very easily, so it would be stupid to even try it.

If a person regardless of race, sex, etc. knew that every 2nd or 3rd person in line was going to be searched, no matter what, they would be a lot less likely to take the chance, or get someone else to take the chance, since everyone stands a decent chance of being searched.

We need to do something that will work, and profiling against Muslims, or brown skinned people or anything like that simply won't.

When the Nazis arrested the Communists,
I said nothing; after all, I was not a Communist.
When they locked up the Social Democrats,
I said nothing; after all, I was not a Social Democrat.
When they arrested the trade unionists,
I said nothing; after all, I was not a trade unionist.
When they arrested the Jews, I said nothing; after all, I was not a Jew.
When they arrested me, there was no longer anyone who could protest.

That's exactly why we need to stand up to Muslim fascism.

We need to do it in a smart way, and not a stupid knee jerk reaction where we act like Israel did, and only build more support for them. We need to do it in a way where we aren't profiling all Muslims or People of Arab decent.

Considering millions of idiot Americans want to exterminate Muslims (listen to John Hagee or Pat Robertson sometime), this isn't surprising. I know several people who honestly believe that millions of Arab and Muslim American citizens are just "waiting for the signal to declare jihad and kill every Christian." They honestly believe this.

These fools are free to believe whatever horse **** they can shovel in their mouths. But what's scary is we allow these ignorant and dangerous ideas determine a surprisingly large portion of American politics. We allow irrational religious doctrine guide us in international relations and diplomacy.

My hope is that rationality and reason return to politics and American culture. Maybe then, humanity will have a chance to survive our perceived holiness and the tools of annihilation we use to prove it.

i think we have been doing that for a long time and that is not necessarily "profiling".

yeah i am for profiling everyone between certain age demographics. race/ethnicity has not shown to be a viable way to help catch terrorists. age seems to be the only way you can profile for terrorists.

Well, there's at least one positive to it: a shorter line! Yes baby! I am all for it!

Oh, and btw, here's an additional 'demographic' they might want to be concerned with in the near future, according to terrorism experts:

They are not winning...it's just remains to be a learning experience for our Nation and the West (not that the East doesn't have some learning opportunities). We have not divided society, we have not closed our borders to immigration.

That doesn't mean that there is fear and some are willing to sacrifice ideals at a much different level than others.

To keep perspective not to belittle anyone's death but about 3,000 died on 9/11. About 45,000 die each year, 17,000 from drunk drivers. It is estimated that over 100,000 Americans die due to pharmaceutical problems each year, and one report that I saw estimated that 750,000 die due to iatrogenic (physician-induced) illness and errors, yet I hear of no one wanting to know which doctors are responsible for the most errors and deaths.

With these other apparently acceptable but signifcant threats to one's survival, some are willing to sell our values, morals or ideals out of fear?

After 9/11 I brought flowers to the local mosque. I hoped that would maybe negate some ignorant and hateful response by someone else.

2 1/2 months to go until the midterms. Republicans are trailing badly. Regardless of what eventually comes out of the London fluids scare, it's already clear the Administration overplayed their hand to score some cheap political points and get the scare mojo going. Now, here comes the ratcheting rhetoric to seperate the country into "us" and "them" where "us" just happens to be represented by the Administration who is working to keep us safe... and a God-fearing country that don't like those Gay people adopting or marrying or whatever evil they are up to this election cycle. It's just going to get worse in the coming weeks.
