Why? At his best, Lidge was far more dominant in far more pressure packed situations than T-Mac ever was. Lidge helped lead his teams deep into the playoffs... teams that couldn't have won without him. He was also playing on a stage far bigger than T-Mac ever has.

Also, T-Mac could have an injury that prevents him to ever getting back to where he once was. Brad Lidge could just have an extended version of the "yips" (play golf?), combined with some fatigue of logging heavy innings after several operations that lowered his work-load early on.

I know its not really an issue... I was just responding to the guy who said the Astros were idiots for not trading Lidge, as it was clear he was done. If it was that clear that Lidge was done, it should be even more clear that the Rockets get rid of T-mac... since nobody I know believes that, its just pointing out how flawed the view with Lidge was.

I hope it's WHEELER, & not Qualls, who gets the job.

The healing begins TODAY, folks ... the healing begins today.

That said, we still pretty much suck. That game last night was total horsecrap.

as it was said before.. This is pretty sad to see how far he has fallen. Last night when i was at the game and Lidge came in i leaned over to my brother and said " Now I'm nervous." last year instead of saying i was "nervous" my family and i would have already got are stuff and left to beat the traffic.

I hope qualls or Wheels can do a good job...

o yeah an as soon as murton hit the home run i said " i don't have time for 18 tonight." LOL

    i guess i made time!

Lidge needs new surroundings and the Astros need a new closers. A trade in the off-season is the best for everyone.

Lidge doesn't need a third pitch to add. He can't even get over the 2 he does know. It's probably a little mental and some physical, too (the World Baseball Championships that was mentioned earlier). Thought I saw a stat way back showing how some pitchers in the WBC got off to rocky starts...Its strange cuz he doesn't sound fazed or rattled or anything from past moments. Still that doesnt excuse Lidge. Its looking closer to modern day Mitch Williams than a guy thats close to turning it around...

T-Mac has been a top flight basketball player for a longer period of time than Lidge was a top closer (1 and a half years) or even a top flight mlb pitcher for that matter.

Your point about the Rockets maybe taking a pro-active aproach and dumping T-Mac and his large contract before these back issues forces him into decline and then rebuilding on the fly with Yao is valid and can be discussed but comparing Lidge and his ability to T-Mac and his is what made me say "don't say those two names in the same sentance".

T-Mac when on the floor is an elite player, Brad Lidge is only even still on the Astros roster and not down with the express because of his previous track record.

Look Lidge has good stuff but only two pitches and he rarly locates his fastball so maybe it's not in his head maybe the professional mlb hitters have figured him out and it's not his head.

All I am saying is after last year his trade value was still sky high and the Astros still had major issues when it came to producing runs so that's why I said then and that's what I am saying now.
