has anyone out there heard of this new movie coming out?

if not, get ready for this gender bender rock opera.
this was an off-broadway sensation in NY, then adapted for the screen by its creator, John Cameron Mitchell, who wrote, directed, and stars as the title character, Hedwig.

words cannot describe what it is about, but when this film comes to your city, go see it immediately.if you love music, you will love this movie.

if anyone has seen it, let me know what you think

I saw Hedwig a few months ago at a film festival and it is awesome! Unlike most rock musicals it actually works as rock and roll. And it is *so, so* funny! I have rarely had a better time at the movies. My girlfriend and I were constantly high-fiving in the movir theater. I agree with you, Across, this is mega, mega, mega!

-Elvis, who feels rather bizarre listening to Hank Williams while writing about Hedwig..post-modernism is fun!

Man 110th street, talk about bizare, how do you intigrate Radiohead with Bobby Womack? I was looking at your name and your sig. to try and possibly intuit some additional info about this film based on what you might like, but now I'm just kind of confused...

Haven't seen it, but Bob Mould does the guitar work, so at least one thing in it has to be spectacular.

From everything I've seen the movies been getting fabulous reviews.

Can't wait to see this movie!

I saw Mitchell do the original stage play and loved it!

I'm not a big musical fan but this show rocked my world!

110thSt have you seen "Tic Tic Boom!"?

Its a new musical by Jonathan Larson. Actually its not a "new" musical. He wrote it a few years before he wrote Rent.

Very amusing and telling story of a 30 something coming of age and questioning his life and art and wondering if he'll ever "make it".

Its great for the fact that you can see his progression as a song and story teller. The music is really good.

Also can't wait for the film version of Rent. I think Spike Lee is directing and the Guy who plays Larson in Tic Tic Boom is up for the lead. His name is Raul Esparza and he is amazing. His first Broadway show was the new version of Rocky Horror on Broadway right now. He played Riff Raff.

Keep an I eye out of this guy (Esparza) he's gonna be great!

    mcmark,

I saw the stage version with Michael Cerveris(the original "Tommy"), but Mr. Mitchell is insane in the role of Hedwig.
I 'll go check out tic tic boom.

have you seen the new play "Four?"

No, as you know, due to ungodly ticket prices for Broadway and off broadway, I only allow myself one show a month.

Tell me more, tell me more!

If you're interested. The New York Fringe Festival starts this weekend and and runs for the next two weeks. Its the 5th one. I've worked the last three and had a blast. If you've got some free time on your hands and nothing to do. They are always looking for volunteers.
