I understand CD is taking 2 days off to relieve his brain and sleep. Does anyone have the skinny on Marc Jackson?

Yeah, undresized (6'10) and not suited to go against the Western Conference(Shaq,Twin Towers). Unless Rudy has a new stratagy for the new rules this year! Hopefully, this is all part of Rudy's master plan! :)

FranchiseRules, it would have been nice to suggest the correctly- sized center to choose instead. The Spurs clearly had the correctly sized centers and got swept. The Rockets need a productive 5 and Jackson is the best there is. He will improve more and you and everybody should know that his per 48 minutes statistics are better than Taylor's who is going to be a fixture on the team. And if I am not mistaken those statistics are for a player playing in the Western conference where he is undersized.

We always need more shotblocking. :)

Unless they allow six on five basketball next year so Jackson and Cato can play at the same time.

    Well,
They already allow 5 on four when Cato is playing; so why wouldn't they allow 5 on 6 also with Cato playing.:D

We need to think this through. Do we really want a center that hustles?

    Dear Rock,
His per 48 mins stats were better than MoT, because Jackson played for the Warriors. It's not like Hughes and the other guards were exactly putting them in. Who else do the Warriors have ==Antawn Jamison? Give me a break.
He won't put up the same points/rebs stats on our team per 48 mins. Im sure Steve's rebs of 7/game will eat away 2 of his. Thus MJ will only bring grit, hustle, and some low post offense to the game. He definitely won't avg 1 blk/game.

One definitely have to take into consideration the difference in teams. However, please do not go overboard with this. Jackson, if you have not seen him, is no stiff and could very well be expected to do better since on the Rockets, he may not attract much attention as it could be all focused on Mobes, Taylor, Francis et al.

The Warriors and Sonics seem happy to offer him close to $5m, I cannot see why we cannot see his value also.

Jackson played 4 years under John Chaney at Temple. That should mean he has good fundamentals and hustle. PLus he'll understand the concept of team defense (something we have sorely lacked) and be used to a situation where guards run the show. I personally think he would be a good fit for us.

Well, Im all for it ..just as long as we don't break the bank. I'm sure the evil fans will come out and talk bad about the Rockets if we sign this guy to a $5M or $6M contract (which in the fans' minds could have been offered more per year to Hakeem), but that doesn't really matter bc in Dream's mind we were never in the running anyhow. ha ha

Actually, Marc only played 2yrs with Temple. He left early because his family was dirt poor and he wanted to make some money for them. He was drafted in the 2nd round in Duncan's draft class. After that he went overseas to play and improve his skills. Personally, i kind of like those guys who don't have it easy comming out with something to prove. Guys with the chip on their shoulder seem to play harder and appreciate their life more. Cat was a 2nd round pick with something to prove and look how he's turned out,
