I totally Agree . . and i don't even like baseball but what I cannot stand is the grandstanding and sitting on certain players I told a friend of mine 610 and 790 are complete opposite Jim Rome = some sport with alot alot of other off topic stuff Rich and Mark are the local Equivalent Dan Patrich = mostly sports. . and some other stuff Palillo is the local equivalent [actually more sports-ish ] Rocket River
Carl Dukes makes Rich Lord look Shakespearean in logic, eloquence & argumentative reasoning. He blows as a sports talk show host. And to team his crap with ANOTHER New Yorker? WHY? I live in NYC and fiend for Houston sports talk. I'm not gonna listen in to the 'netcast to hear another biased New Yorker talk...
Carl Dukes may be the most boring person I've ever heard on a radio program. I'm not from Houston and would like to have at least some opportunity to listen to a national show even though I'm not a big fan of Mike & Mike.
The new morning guy is on 790 right now, filling in for Dukes. http://espn790.com/pages/morningshow.html Brad Davies comes to ESPN 790 from his hometown of Utica, N.Y., by way of Rochester, a city just northwest of Buffalo. Thus that thick, obnoxious utterance. Davies began broadcasting in 1989 – his senior year of high school – by producing and co-hosting one of Utica’s top FM morning shows. In 1996, Brad started doing sports talk radio at News/Talk 950 WIBX. In 2000, Brad packed up his rusty Blazer and his trusty basset hound, Bogie, and headed to Rochester to anchor morning sports on six different morning shows in three different markets before heading down the hall at 9 a.m. to host his own show on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK. There, he earned his nickname “the Curse.” During his tenure, the hometown favorite Buffalo Bills did not make one playoff appearance, while the city’s consensus favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees, did not win a World Series. In other words, don’t expect the Texans to turn around anytime soon. Brad brings to Houston a deep love for baseball, basketball and football. He's also a huge golf fan. Though a helpless hacker on the links, Davies is hoping to caddie for Jim Nantz and Fred Couples, whenever they return to town. Joining him on his latest journey is his wife, Amy, and his buddy, Bogie. The bride and canine both have watched Brad kick more furniture and scream at his TV during more sporting events than they care to remember. It can be especially rough when his beloved Syracuse Orange turns in one of their patented clunckers on the gridiron. Brad also loves the lowly New York Knicks, for whom he recently urged his listeners to petition for FEMA relief. Since moving to Houston, Davies has declared himself a free agent for any softball team needing a great stick and some slick leather. Although some of his former softball teammates suggest that he'll have a tough time adjusting to the diamonds deep in the heart of Texas, Brad insists he’s “really, really good.” Brad is also an avid reader and loves classic cinema. And he's a big fan of former President John F. Kennedy, even scheduling his wedding on the 40th anniversary of his assassination just so he’d remember his anniversary and avoid upsetting his wife. Among Brad's dislikes are high gas prices, slow people in the fast lane, and the New York Mets. Brad has been preparing for his excursion to H-town by making his family and friends refer to him as "Tex." "Tex," Amy and Bogie reside in Katy.
I really hope the new morning show brings some sense to Houston sports talk 'cuz what we have locally right now SUCKS. They are terrible! And I should know! I work with them. Hell they are two of my best friends on earth. But their show is miserable. And the callers? They totally blow. In fact, they suck so bad they should have that Number One most listened to AM show by men stripped right waway from them. GO DAVIES & DUKES! Not David Duke and not Daisy Dukes, DAVIES AND DUKES BABY!
