I can already tell JvG is not going to like V-span. He has way to much hair to be coached by a bald guy. :D

You must be right, cause this is why he became MVP of the EL-FinalFour and was in the EL-First Team. Just because of one Highlight-Compilation

So that`s youre point? Just because he did not play for a NBA-Team he is not good enough?
Just because the NBA-Teams don`t want some guy who can also play good defence and isn`t bad in offence, this doesn`t mean he is not good enough!

You know, Basketball is not only Offence, but also Defence!
If TEAM-USA will not prepare for this, the will not get high at this WC!

Diamantidis is by far the best Defender in Europe! Good enough for any Team in the World!

    So lets see:

Papaloukas grab the Off-Rebound in the paint against 3 Opponents twice and make the basket (1st Videoclip), and he make the Dunk against 2 opponenst(2nd Videoclip).
Yeah, he is not much of an Athlete

    And what about the EL-Final?
So he didn`t make a dunk every 2 seconds. This has to be a proof, right?

Maybe you mean that just a guy like Tony Parker is fast enoigh for the NBA, but this would mean that about 90%(or even more) of the NBA-Players arn`t good enough to play there.

Maybe you mean that just an athlete like MJ is worth playing in the NBA, but this would also mean that about 90% of the current NBA-Players are not worthy.

    make yourself clear.
If the Best of the Best Players in Europe are not worthy playing in the NBA, who is?
    Jake Tsakalidis?
Yeah, he is big, he is tall, he is the prototype of an NBA Player(also don`t forget the point he has no clue what he is doing on the court)

Wow, did Clutch just stop using the "rookie" title for new non-contributing members?

Just a curious observation. Carry on.

I've been meaning to do this. I just want to give a big thank you to pryuen for compiling these interesting articles and photographs that we'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Keep up the great work! :)

I saw the Euroleage final four in Prague. Papaloukas was the key player in the CSKA Moscow team, he made a tons of clutch plays. I really like him.

BUT! I think he isn't strong and fast enough for the NBA.

Of course I know that. But the question I was inferring to was that we have the rights to a third string Euro guard and not the first (the MVP), not even the 2nd (the DPY) on the Greek team. We wern't even going to bring this guy over till the He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named deal collapsed. I just assumed the NBA teams scout the Euroleague for the best players. Sorry if this sounded a little off to me but wouldn't this be like signing the third best guard on our Rockets summer league roster, not JL3? (I know Euroleague is probably much better than NBA summer leagues but it is just an analogy). I'm trying hard not to be a troll.

Also to add to my post up above, if the posts about the guards who start over V.S. arn't athletic enough nor have the skillset to play in the NBA, doesn't that imply V.S. does not have the athlethic nor skillset to compete in the NBA too? If he can't start over these unworthy NBA players, how is he going to contribute over here if at all. I may have confused myself by speedreading, someone correct me if I've gotten the wrong conclusion.

KillBill will join Peja Stojakovic and Carlos Boozer in the NBA All Furry Team.

Nobody beats Spanish player Roberto Duenas, though.

    KillBill speaks Babelfish-English.

I thought they met two years ago at some international event shortly after KillBill was drafted? IIRC Yao popped in to see one of Greece's practice sessions.

It's also easier to rack up assists in the NBA. You literally have to catch and shoot the ball to get an assist in Europe, whereas in NBA you can take 2 steps or shoot it off the dribble.

You really have problems with understanding what others are trying to say.

Highlights don't mean a sh_t. You brought up the highlights yourself, and I answered with the example of Marko Milic, the guy who's zero outside of highlights. You can make Darius Miles looks the best player in the NBA that way.

To make it understandable enough for you, no, Papa wasn't named MVP because of his highlights. His game is tailor-made for basketball under FIBA rules but that doesn't mean he'll do anything in the NBA.

Does the name of Dejan Bodiroga ring a bell? For years, he was considered the best player in Europe and yet, he was never in serious combinations for NBA. Bodiroga himself was smart enough to know he doesn't stand a chance in the NBA due to his lack of athleticism. He, like Papa, plays with his head and maximizes his abilites in slow, positional game of European bball. Which is again, completely different from the NBA.

Then you have Macijauskas, who averaged close to 20PPG in the Euroleague and impressed with quick release on his shot. Remind me, how did the fare in the NBA?

Travis Hansen is also among top players in Euroleague and what did he do in the NBA?

OTOH our boy Spanoulis has the ability to penetrate almost at will, which is something that can't be said for above mentioned guys. And that's what makes him so special. He might not be top Euro player, but dislike those who are, he has the abilites that the game of NBA rewards. I personally still have some doubts about him, but if he's able to make use of NBA rules that protect slashers, he'll be a nice asset.

Match photos of Vassalis Spanoulis in the opening match with Australia......

Results not yet known, but a fight almost broke out between the 2 teams, involving the fiery Andrew Bogut of Australia.

I would be more worried about his tongue once he meets guys that earn money in NBA paint.
