According to HoustonTexans.com (thanks to rblnick from the Texans MSG Board): Love the LB combination of Orr, DeMeco, and Greenwood! How will Lewis Sanders fare? Will Mathis be healthy by the start of the regular season to be our KR? Glad to see Derrick Lewis as the 4th WR!
Eh...no reason to put too much stock into this. We haven't even played a preseason game and are still over a month away from the season. A lot of spots left to be earned. Definitely don't want to see Bruener starting though.
Yeah still a bit early but I can't wait for Saturday so we can get a glimpse of the new Texans offense under Kubiak.
My only question is that if our Lbs are Orr, Ryans, and Greenwood, where does Sam Cowart fit into the equation?
First off, Why isnt jeb our starting TE? secondly, i do not like putting j-bab at DE. How about we move him back to OLB where he was a force? just a thought
In college, he was a DE...we made him play OLB in the 3-4...he's finally back to the position where he can be effective.
I believe Cowart is injured, and were he not, he probably would be at the middle LB position, at least to start. If DeMeco Ryans unseats him even before the season starts, then Cowart provides quality depth off the bench.
Demeco will be a starter either in the middle or the outside...just depends on Cowart's effectiveness at MLB.
I'm thinking we might see a lot of single back, two tight end formations. If Putzier is a poor blocker, good reciever; Bruener the opposite; you wouldn't want to tip your hand substituting one for the other. Plus poor WR depth behind Andre/Eric and a re-emphasis on bootlegs for Carr would suggest you'd want Putzier out there for short routes. I look forward to what might be our first real offense in franchise history. Force? or did you mean farce? Evan
Saw this on the Official Website off the last practice report. I thought it might deserve its own thread, but put it in here anyway. http://www.houstontexans.com/news/detail.php?PRKey=2737§ion=N%20Latest%20News Game plan: With 86 players on the roster Kubiak and staff have figured out a way to get a look at every individual on Saturday. Starters will play the first quarter and a select few will play the entire first half. Number two offense and defense will play throughout the second and third quarters, while the threes will take the field during the fourth quarter and possibly the end of the third. So it looks like we'll see Carr for more than one series tomorrow, which I like. I also like that guys like Spencer, Winston and Ryans, etc will probably play for an entire half even though 1 of those 3 will be starting.
The Hype machine man...that's all i can say...he was great as a rookie, got his value up there as an up and coming CB and then it went all downhill when he became exposed for a weak tackler.....
I think our defense is going to be damn solid, Weaver, Williams, and Smith are all monsters.. I'm very disappointed at seeing Babin starting over Peek though. Peek is probably the most physically talented DE/OLB we have right now (at least until Williams gets a chance to prove otherwise), I just can't see Babin doing jack doodle off the line of scrimmage. Our DL looks to be very deep though, Kalu, Payne, Peek.. and if Johnson can prove himself worthy of his draft slot we'll definitely be in good shape. Our O-line is still the same smattering of veteran backups except for Flannagan, who will help tremendously. Hopefully our defense will be able to put our offense in scoring position more often than not, because I can't see us moving the ball at will. Fantasy owners stay away from the Texans backfield, expect to see 3 different backs getting equal touches per game.
