Racism in Arkansas? Color me surprised. But how did that email get sent to the members of the Grand Conclave convention party? The story didn't make that clear.

Probably a black employee at Remington (the firm the lady worked for). Although it is very odd that they have and publish the name, position and employer of the letter's author, but not of the snitch who circulated it. Racially insensitive, but not discriminatory. "Lock your car doors," and "don't walk alone at night" are fairly innocuous, ultimately well-meaning statements.

When my company relocated, one of my managers, and another senior person, repeatedly told us to make sure we didn't leave the team/department cell phones out on our desks, because of "some of the people who might come through here at night." Considering we had moved from Downtown Houston to suburban Omaha, this seemed like an odd comment. Then I worked a couple of evening shifts, and the cleaning staff came by, and they were all black guys in their twenties, like me. Of course, I actually liked my bosses, so I kept my opinions about their comments to myself (until now, of course), and if I really had a problem with it I would have talked to them about it first, one-on-one, behind closed doors.
