NONE. All the American-Chinese food will dump into my trash can without a second though. All those sweet and sour, egg roll, whatever stuff is make for fat and ignorance people, it's not for people that really knows a thing about the REAL CHINESE FOOD. To me, the Chinese food, I mean the authentic Chinese food is 10 times better than those that they actually sell for a profit. All in all, American-Chinese food is here, and will always be here because of business purpose, it's not for people who wants Chinese food.
You guys should try Chinese Cafe on Richmond. Get the beef lo-mein extra spicy with jalapeños and general tsos chicken. Fantastic stuff MMMMMMMMMMMm
Yan Yao, the man asked what is your favorite American Chinese place, not help dump on a food that the thread starter likes. I eat American Chinese food. I am neither fat nor ignorant. Ignorant people are those who make assumptions about people without knowing anything about them.
well, most americans prefer american-chinese to chicken feet, sharks fin, etc... Not dissing authentic chinese food, but most americans are nauseated by the majority of it (not saying it's bad...just different pallets {sp?}) I think most of us are aware that it is nothing like authentic chinese.
I completely understand that Americanized Chinese food is nowhere near what the real thing is but that doesn't mean me and others don't still enjoy it. It would be like comparing Tex-Mex to real Mexican food and I know that Taco Bell's menu is nowhere near the el pollo del rey that Mrs. Diaz cooks.
Slap in the face.! I don't know about you, but I love Cats, and Dogs. you had to know that was coming up/ the Americanized Chinese food I like are um, i guess mongolian beef at kimson, spring rolls from anywhere, general tsos chicken, i guess.. and um i like fried rice. when i hit a buffet, i usually get fried rice, and green beans. damn, i'm actually kinda hungry for a buffet right now. i'm po' and broke right now, so this sucks.
You know Yao Ming owns a American-Chinese restaurant. Are you calling Yao fat, lazy and ignorant? How could you!?! Beef and Broccoli from Shanghai River on Westheimer ftw though.
Favorite American-Chinese? Sesame Chicken and Moo Shu Pork from P.F. Chang's. Yes, P.F. Chang's. The best of both those dishes I've ever had were from there (Sugar Land branch). Favorite "real" Chinese food? A nice big plate of Roast Duck, BBQ pork and Steamed Chicken with ginger trio with some white rice. Or a good, steamed fish.
man, ten bucks for that place? it's not bad though. the one on 45 and i think airtex gets crowded so quickly.
What's the general price range for having Chinese buffet in Houston? Sounds like General Tso Chicken is really popular, I feel ashamed but may I ask how does it taste like?
Kim Son is actually a chinese/vietnamese resteraunt. Have you been to the newest one on Bellaire? They opened up a buffet and dim sum place. Yan Yao- Authentic chinese food is obviously much better, especially to chinese people, but I'm chinese and I love me some american-chinese food. Sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, gen. tso's, crag rangoons, eggrolls, you name it...
Depends where and when you go. You could go to a nice buffet and it ranges from $6 (lunch) to $10 (dinner), there are also a bunch of places that are much cheaper...but beware. General Tso's is basically a fried piece of chicken dipped in a sweet brown sauce, sometimes they throw peppers in their to make it a little spicy. Its unbelievable if you get it from the right place.
Thanks for the info gucci888. Although it is stated clear that these are Americanized-Chinese food, I thought there should be some connection to the authentic Chinese food. But this General Tso (in memorial of some famous/infamous Chinese General of last name Tso???), not only the name sounds strange to me, it's receipe (that I searched from internet) looks unique to me too. At this point, I guess this is a genuine Americanized-Chinese food without doubt. Sounds like a must-try dishes if I got a chance to visit States.
