I'm quite sure you believe what you typed, but who sent Iranian long range missiles to Hezbollah? Who bankrolls Hezbollah? Why its......IRAN! Why do you think Iran gave Hezbollah the go ahead to use their long range missiles to fire into Isreal? To take the world pressure off of Iran and to stir up Jewish hatred in the Middle East. Regarding their urges, Ahmedinejan (SP?) has repeatedly stated that Iran believes Isreal should be destroyed. Isreal is a sovreign democracy and he says they should be destroyed. I think their urges are out there for everyone to see if people will look.
It's obvious, and if we have larned anything from the 20th century...It is to take threats like this seriously before it becomes too big to handle without massive cost...
LOL, I love it when people bring up this discredited argument - still - yeah it sure looks like Iran is running scared, what with the enormous progress of US forces in pacifying Iraq and Afghanistan, what with defiantly developing nuclear weapons and starting a war with Israel, lol. If there's been anybody who has emerged as the big winner from the Bush administration's misguided mideast misadventures, it is Iran, which has emerged as the regional superpower. They've even got a nice little proxy war going on agaisnt israel where they take none of the casualties and come off as heroically resisting the israelis, are more powerful in Iraq than the US without committing a single troop, and their number one threat, the us army, is bogged down in Iraq and has had its capacities seriously degraded through years of deployment and combat. To top it off, domestic support for the hardliners grows everytime the US rattles its sword. Yup, they're running scared.
They want to export there Islamic Revolution through Hammas, Hezbollah and so on. khomenie said, 'our islamic views and values must be exported at all costs". they want to export there fanaticale views by any means. resposible goverments dont let there population stave and let there country have the highest drug adduiction rate on the planet and send over 650 million dollars to hezbollah every year. or send 150 mill yea to hammas and islamic jihad. the mollahs has a 2 faced policy.do everything under the carpet and deny everything in the international forum.
Compare Iran's government now to when Khomenie was in charge. You may not agree but a LOT of progress in the right direction has been made. But does Iran's current power structure represent what it should be? Of course not. It's a slow, halting progress that will (hopefully) continue over the next 10-15 years and yield a responsible government that respects the rights of other countries. Right now though, Iran is in the business of ramming it's influence down the throat of the Arab countries and Israel by any means other than directly attacking them. Iranians of all political stripes feel like their destiny is to dominate the region. It's their duty to raise the hopes and standards of Shia's that are living in Sunni dominated Arab countries. They want to be seen as the leaders of the Muslim world in the struggle against Israel. If/when the power of the Mullah's is reduced or broken, then Iran will step into the light. They have a long long way to go but they have come a long long way since the revolution. To get a true perspective, things have to be looked at in a timeline instead of a snapshot. SamFisher, you hit the nail on the head! That is the plain truth and why everyone can't see it is beyond me. The Iraq morass has accelerated Iran's ascension in stature and power far past Iran's ability to be a responsible country. Thank you Mr. Bush!
This was actually the same argument from 1991. Removing Hussein creates a power vaccuum which the Iranian hardliners fill right up. Sadly it was exactly correct.
Care to elaborate on som of these progress you're talking about. when the country has a 60% unemployment rate, 70% poverty rate, prostitution is the norm, highest drug addiction rate on the planet, there is over 4 million homeless people alone in the capital tehran with a population of 13 million. irans economy is ranked the 105th worse economy on the planet. all this is happening to a country which has the second highest gas reserves and the 3rd largest oil reserves. in iran, we have to Import Petrol. yes Import Petrol. Simply because all of iran refineries were built before the revolution. the mollahs needed to spend 5 billion to upgrade to Refinries, but they choose top spend there money on terrorists.
In a Survey by the goverments owned national youth organisation, 55% THE YOUT'S HAVE CONTEMPLATED SUICIDE atleast once! and 65% want to leave the country.there is a reason why iran has the highest refugee and immigration rate on the planet.
I'm only talking about progress in the political sense that affects global stability. Yes, Iran's innards are rotting. I'll be the last person to argue that point because there is no argument. One other point I'll make is the run up in oil prices (and hence Iran's oil wealth) has r****ded political progress.
Look, guys. We're addicted to oil. Our own president said so. If we don't spend trillions of dollars, and thousands of American lives to get oil, we might instead have to spend billions of dollars on clean, renewable energy. And nobody wants that.
Also, during khatamis fruitless regin, there was a record number of arrest of journalists, political prisoner execution and shutting down of newspapers. khatamis spineless tactics forced many of his cabinet members to resign. some were jailed and some are still un-accounted for.
Iranian Special forces found dead amongst hezbollah guerillas takenout by the IDF.what more proof does anyone need that the mollahs are telling hezbollah ti instigate this mess. it's a tactic to take attention away from iran's nuclear fiasco.
It was on reuters. it was on another site iran va jahan. the original article came from the guardian news paper in england. http;//www.iranvajahan.net/english/ Read the article iran caught dead handed.
Not that I trust a dissident-backed website like "iran va-jahan", but I will bite. Here's what the article says... "Israel's Channel 10 television said the Iranians were identified by papers on their bodies, but gave no further details on how many were soldiers or where or when they were found." So the only source we have is Israel, and not much info is provided. For example: were they Iranian volunteers in Hezbollah or were they Iranian government employees? If the former, how does it prove Iranian 'complicity' in the conflict? BTW, I don't doubt that it might be true, certainly the Iranians do have legitimate interests in Lebanon they want to protect, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they are somehow involved in countering the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
If the story is true, the real issue is were they only defending Hezbollah against attack or were they involved in the recent provocation against Israel that started this whole mess?
The mollahs created hezbollah. they fund and arm hezbollah every year. around 700 million us$ annually.it is more then concivible that Iranian special forces are there. how do you think hezbollah guerillas have become such feared fighters?. someone had to train them. and the iranian Special forces are some of the best ground units on on the planet. there trained for all conditions.
