Battier discribed the relationship of Yao and himself with smile,"I told him,we`ll play together when back to Houston on Oct.But before Oct,He can kick my ass in games, and I can kick his."
Wow! Coach K is interested in the 17-yrs old Chen Jianghua. Looks like the CNT will have a nice PG by 2008. http://www.shanghaidaily.com/art/2006/08/08/288491/Hoopsters_mauled.htm Hoopsters mauled Zhou Zuyi 2006-08-08 Hoopsters mauled China's Yi Jianlian (right) guards Dwight Howard of the United States in Guangzhou last night. Team USA won 119-73. TEAM USA steamrolled China 119-73 last night at the three-nation tournament in Guangzhou and ahead of the World Championships later this month. The mighty American team, with NBA All Stars LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade in the lineup, showed little mercy as the Chinese battled on in the absence of Yao Ming and Wang Zhizhi - both missing the game with injuries. The American trio combined for 53 points with James scoring a game high 23 points. Du Feng scored 18 for China but it was 17-year-old Chen Jianghua who impressed on his debut. The point guard snared six points in 18 minutes and seemed unfazed by the big-name Americans and pulled off some arm-raising lay-ups and mind-boggling dribbles and clearly delighted the packed house. "He played very well considering the level of pressure he was under today," US head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "I liked his performance very much. Does he have good grades? If he does, maybe (University of Duke) would like to recruit him." Krzyzewski wears two hats as American head coach and the top basketball mentor at Duke. But Krzyzewski probably wouldn't have known that Chen even has not spent a day in a normal school. The 1.85-meter Guangdong native is a member of the reserve team with three-time CBA champion Guangdong Hongyuan South China Tigers. He has yet to play in China's top-division CBA league and, like most Chinese athletes, was groomed in a fulltime sport schools. China's head coach Jonas Kazlauskas also applauded Chen's debut performance, although he hinted his focus lies somewhere else. "Sure, we need this kind of players who can break down the opposition defense and deliver assists or points," said the Lithuanian coach. "But the most important thing tonight is that we played another world class side and got some very good experience. I think this is the seventh world top-10 team we have played this summer. That's very good as we prepare for the World Championship." China and United States will meet again later this month in the group stage of the World Championships in Japan. The United States will play Brazil tonight to complete the China Basketball Challenge.
Do you want to bet? Team USA is going to win the WBC with an avg margin of 20 pts at least. If non of these two are met, I lose. I think >=20 is enough for this team worthy to be called "Dream Team 2006". How about an Authentic Rockets Jersey? The people here are the witnesses... C'mon.
What was the average winning margin for that 1992 team? It would be fare to call this one a Dream Team if it can match that.
I really liked Chen Jianghua...he plays a bit like Tony Parker. Much better than their starters. He has an American style of play, pushes the ball very hard and finishes strong at the basket.
That's not fair my friend. During the time of Dream Team 1992, there were no Dirks, Gasols, Yaos and most of all, GINOBILIS. Do you see my point?
Man, Christian Laettner sure was a bust in the NBA compared to the rest of these guys. I had to look up the roster for the team just to figure out who he was.
Yeah that Chen JiangHua is promising. He's got excellent handles and speed. His passing is flashy. Just needs to bulk up a tad. Here are a couple of highlights of him at the Reebok ABCD Camp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBDCxUg9mgg
The Dream Team had a winning margin of 43.75 points. All the players that you mentioned are on different teams. If those players could make the winning margin go from 43.75 points to 20 points, then it's no dream team anymore.
BTW, for those who wish to watch USA vs Brazil, it will be on PPStream... Here's the link The game shall begin 15 min later I guess. If you are not familiar with Chinese, you may want to use TVUplayer, here is the download: TVUPlayer Download Then choose CCTV5. Enjoy! Too bad I am still stucked with my job.
