Going next week for the end of the WSOP. Can I get suggestions for the best sports book?

depends on if you like an atmosphere for a few ppl to sit together or not. Bellagio and Venetian are nice if you're alone. If you have some people together, check out the front of the Wynn... and Mandalay Bay has some great spots if you can get one of the tables. I think those are the best 4..

Dude--I'm going to be in Vegas from Monday through Thursday. I'd advise against trying to go watch the end of the WSOP at the Rio unless you want to get there and wait HOURS ahead of time. Plus, I went and watched the final table of one of the preliminary events last year and it's about as exciting as watching ice melt.

Oh yeah, one more thing, would you like to meet up somewhere and maybe play some poker together? I primarily like to play 1-2 no limit in casinos, but would play some low limit if you don't like to play NL.

Caesar's sportsbook is a little disappointing. It sits at the elbow of the walkway between the main casino and the forum shops. It sorta "just there" in the walkway.

As for outskirts casinos, I liked Red Rock's sports book. Nicely decorated and out of the way.

    I love Vegas.
I love it soo much I wrote a guide on it for when people ask this question.
The best advice....Go to enjoy what Vegas has to offer...the food...the entertainment...etc. You can go gamble and eat hot dogs in Lake Charles.

I’ve been to Vegas several times. I go one or two times a year. I feel like I could write a book on it.

If I were you I would Stay at Bellagio.
It’s the nicest hotel on the middle of the strip, so it’s not too far from anything.
Sure the rooms are pricey, but it’s a nice stay.
If your looking for something a little less pricier try Ceasars, Aladin, or Paris. If your looking for something really cheap try Imperial Palace. I usually end up staying at the MGM or NYNY because all my comps are there, but Bellagio is by far the best hotel Ive ever stayed at. The Wynn and Venetian are supposed to be nicer, but they are at the ass end of the strip and I really cant see them being much more plush than Bellagio. You can always rack up comp points by playing almost exclusively at the hotel you stay at and then upon check out ask if your comp points can cover your stay, or at least a bit of it. ;)
Search the hotels web sites for internet promotions.
I got to stay at Bellagio once for a good deal because of these.
The Venetian was the nicest Hotel in Vegas until the Wynn just opened, but both are at the very North end of the Strip.

Bellagio also has The Best Buffet.
If I were you I would hit up their Sunday Champagne Brunch.
Hands down the best in town.
The Rio also has a very good buffet, for a little less money.
If your into Sushi, the best spot by far is Nobu at the Hard Rock.
A couple of other notable restaraunts are; Wolfgang Pucks Grill and Emrils Fish House, both at MGM.
A surprise winner for steaks is Steakhouse Les Artiste at Paris.
The Peppermill down near the Sahara is great for late late night snacks.
I highly recommend "Sugar and Ice" Ice Cream parlor at the Wynn. The Banana Splits look like a small kayak.
They have a lounge with a fire pit which has a nice vibe and could be a place to meet drunk women trying to sober up.
The only problem is you can only have appetizers in the lounge as far as food, but they are plenty even if you are really hungry.
If your into Chinese Dim Sum check out this place on Spring Mountain Road in the heart of China Town. You can get a lot of great dim sum for a great deal.

The best clubs are Rain and Ghost Bar at the Palms.
I went to Pure at Ceasars and the line was insane.
Lets just say, if Im ever single again, I know where to look for women, because the woman/guy ratio is like 5:1 in most of those places. I guess the men are gambling, and the women are clubbing.
Another good place to check out women is the Hard Rock Café Pool.
You will need to get a “Players Card” so you can show it to the pool guard when he ask you for I.D.
The pool is supposed to be for guest only. So tell him you left your key in your room with your sleeping hung over wife (or some other bs story),
and you just want to play pool side blackjack. The view will be worth the trouble. ;)
BEWARE, a vodka and redbull cost me $14!!! get liquored up on free drinks while playing before heading out to the clubs!!!

For shows I recommend ”O” at the Bellagio.
Ive also seen Blue Man Group, Zumanity, Mystere, but I recommend “O”.
    It’s mind blowing.
I also recommend KA at the MGM Grand. A great martial arts performance.
It’s also a good idea to search and see what performers will be in town for your visit.
Last time I caught David Copperfield at the MGM and he was amazing.
The MGM usually have good performances.

If you gamble, please learn to do so before going out there.
I recommend reading a book on Black Jack to learn the “Basic Strategy”.
If the book doesnt contain “Basic Strategy” put it down.
This will give you the best odds in Vegas.
It was a formula proven by computers to beat the dealer!
Practice “Basic Strategy” on a PC game if possible.
You can find Black Jack online at gamehouse.com for free.
    Stay away from the fancy large strip hotels when gambling, and stick to the older ones;
Excalibur, San Remo, Imperial Palace, Sahara, and the Down Town Casinos.
These older casinos have to increase the odds in your favor a little bit in order to stay in competition with the newer ones.
The fancier ones usually have higher table limits, and the odds are not so good.
STAY AWAY FROM TABLES WITH SHUFFLING MACHINES.
They kill your odds if you are examining if a high or low card could come out, because they are shuffling constantly!
If you win a pretty big sum of money, don’t put it back on the table.
From my experience, doubling what you sit down with is a pretty good win. Get up and enjoy your winnings.
The biggest mistake people make is they ride the streak until they lose it all back.
Make tiny budgets of what your willing to win or lose at each table. Win you hit that limit get up from that table.
The best thing about Vegas is if your not winning, you can always go look for the hot table elsewhere.

    Don't bet on 2 legged.

    Bet 'til your hands bleed.

-Those are the only two things I've ever heard about Vegas.

    Never tried it though.

    Hey SCF,

Didn't see this second post until just now. You still around?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm staying at the MGM. Will be spending most of my time playing poker. I'll recap when I get back.

    Gummi,

I too can write a book on Vegas!

Actually gambling in Vegas is MUCH BETTER than gambling in Lake Charles. Its more fun with cooler people instead of people dropping their pay checks from the oil refineries.

I stayed everywhere. I was at the Red Rock last time. My favorite is still the Hard Rock. Especially the pool, the 'scenery', and the music. I like it when they blast some cool stuff when you are playing craps.

plus they have the secret gamblers special, u have to ask for it at mr lucky's, $7.77 for steak and shrimp.

Check out Samba at the Mirage, good food. I actually enjoyed the mandalay buffet. Also MIX at the Bellagio. good food.

I'm partial to the Venetian sports book. It's just a basic set up and thus not as glitzy as some of the others on the strip, but in my experience they have widest selection of viewable games on and they have the best drink service.

Yeah, that's the kind of book I'm looking for - I want to watch a Champions League (soccer) game tomorrow (Tuesday) and figured this would be my best bet. So really I'm looking for the sports book with the most viewable options.

Agreed. I was there in early July and I was playing BJ there with Rage's "Killing in the Name" on the house system. They have an awesome vibe going in there.
