    Hey guys,
I know we always talk about 360, PS3 and all that good stuff. But I actually gave in earlier this weekend and got myself a Nintendo DS for about $70 (ebay) for the older model. The newer model goes for about $130 (+$10 tax)

Ive had my eye on Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow & New Super Mario

I also own a PS2 and im currently working on Price of Persia: Sands of Time What are you guys currently playing for PS2 and do you love your ds? I had a PSP and it was just awful. The games were $50 crappier versions of $20 PS2 games. And watching movies on a tiny screen got old. So these are the two systems keeping me occupied whenever I can find free time.

I bought a DS Lite about 3 weeks ago. I love it. I have the new Super Mario, Tetris DS, Brain Age, and Wario Ware Touched. I really like all of them but right now I'm playing Super Mario the most. That is some fun stuff. You can close the lid and Mario will say 'Good bye' and it'll go into a sleep mode. And then it'll be instant on when you open the lid back up. I love it because I can jump in and out for short 10-minute sessions.

I just recently got Madden 06 and NBA 2K6 (PS2) for like $12-$15 each. I haven't played a NFL or NBA game in a while, so I'm getting my fix through them.

For the PS2, I'm looking forward to a bunch of games coming out soon such as Disgaea 2, Okami, Yakuza, FFXII, and a couple of other games (although FFXII might be the only must-buy for me since I'm cheap). I might check out some of the GH PS2 games (never did get SOTC :(), and I might also check out the PSP GH games (Hot Shots). I'm not sure if we can list PSP games, but I am looking forward to Killzone Liberation, Lumines 2, Silent Hill Origins, Metal Gear Portable Ops, and a couple of other games (although again, I'll probably wait until they are <$30 like I did for most of my other PSP games).

haha RC you can talk about anything you want. lets see i agree, NBA 2K6 is great, probably the most in depth basketball game out there. Ive played a bit of the Okami demo, its amazing. FFXII too, i actually just got done with IV for the GBA. Shadow of the Colossus is a huge departure from FF and etc. I could barely get through ICO which was great but playing through Shadow was just like that all over again. Very quiet, no other people, its like youre playing a silent video game with nothing on the screen. The solitude might drive you crazy. I just picked up Hot Shots Fore the other day for $12, but i havent cracked it open.

PSP is coming out with a good game here and there though ill admit. I wouldnt mind trying Daxter and the Grand Theft Auto

Yeah, I was actually surprised by the improvements they made with that game. I didn't note this, but I did have 2K5 and played that a lot. Besides getting used to the controls (seemed like they changed a lot from 2K5), I've loved just about everything about 2K6.

Madden was much improved over the last one I played (2003 or 2004), but I'm sticking to 2K6 for the moment. Mostly because I don't feel like fixing the rosters for the Madden game (one bad thing about buying sports games a year after they came out).

I've actually spent most of my time this summer playing my PSP; I spent the end of last year and the beginning of this year doing other stuff (playing PS2+PC, getting through school, watching Rockets/Astros/Cowboys, etc.), so I missed out on some games. I ended up getting a couple of games like Virtua Tennis, Gripshift, Lumines, and Exit to play during the summer (all were $20 or less at the time). They've all been a lot of fun (especially Gripshift, which I had never heard of until I bought it). I might be looking to get some early 2006 titles later this year along with Hot Shots (Field Commander, Daxter, Syphon Filter, at least one of the Mega Man games, Tekken/Street Fighter, Valkryie Profile, etc.).

One game I forgot to mention that I'm looking forward to is Jean D' Arc, which is a FFT-esque game made by Level 5 (Dark Cloud series, Rogue Galaxy, DQ8). Here's a trailer for the game:

Hopefully that gets brought over to the US. From what I understand, there have been several great RPGs that were released in Japan and/or Europe that never were brought over to the US (including Tales of Eternia, Breath of Fire, and Suikoden 1+2 IIRC). I remember being excited about the RPGs in development for the PSP, yet none of them are even being brought over to the US. :(

I read some things about the new GTA PSP game which sounded great (lots of improvements over the first one), but I'm not really a big fan of GTA. I got my fill with GTA:SA, and probably won't try the series out again until GTAIV for the 360/PS3. Even then, it might just be a rental.

It is now time to rename the thread Nintendo DS, PS2, & PSP. ;)
Here's a video of it in action:

AFAIK, it is a game with a ton of (weird) minigames. I think there are 3 games in the series, the first 2 being on the GBA. Touched is the DS version, which as you can tell uses the DS's control system. I think I read that the 1st 2 games were better though. FWIW, the PSP is getting a similar game called WTF.

Yonkers can probably tell you more.

Yeah, the ability to put the DS and PSP in sleep mode is awesome. I use it a lot for my games (usually put it in sleep mode instead of turning it off actually). It is especially useful for some of the PSP games with long load times.

I've been thinking about buying the various Silent Hill games for the PS2. I'd like to start with 2, unless I can find a cheap copy of 1, which seems as though it is not an easy thing. I'll probably play 3 as well but I not sure if I will bother with 4.

You're right about SH1. I got it about a year ago cheap, but I can't find it being sold anymore in most places (except for eBay, but those are all more than I paid). I believe Konami was/is working on a SH collection, but I think they were leaving SH1 out of it for some reason (at least for the US version). There were also rumors of a SH game based on the movie, or a SH1 remake, but I think those died down.

Not sure if you've already knew this, but if you want to play SH2, you don't really need to have played SH1. However, if you want to play SH3, it really helps to have played SH1 (basically a continuation of the story when you play SH3). I never played SH4 and don't really feel like doing so.

FWIW, the SH PSP game is supposed to be a prequel to SH1 with some references to the events that occurred in that game.

Yeah, I've read enough reviews of each game to know that it is not necessary to play game 1 to understand SH 2. I've actually played SH2 before and got through a portion of the beginning, enough to intrigue me, but I never got into any seriously creepy stuff, which is what I want. I suppose I'll forgo the search for SH1 since it seems like a wild goose chase.

I picked up a 360 few weeks back, and am officially addicted to oblivion.

im not into rpg's at all, but through all the good reviews and the overly geeked out/pushy game crazy employee, i gave it a try....

    can we say crack?

btw the new super mario brothers is top notch!

How can you say the psp was crappy? Sure when it first came out there wasn't any really good games except for a few, but its an amazing handheld. Best one ever. As of right now, the games are getting that much better. Tekken and NCAA Football 07 are the best looking games on the PSP. As good as ps2 version, and with the beautiful LCD screen, it enhances the visuals. Games are going to get much better with time. IMO, PSP is way better than Nentendo DS, not just gameplay, but everything else you can do with a PSP.

The run glitch on NCAA 2007 is frustrating on the PSP. It looks great, and I am sure future versions will have the kinks ironed out, but old rosters, spelling errors on team banners and a glitch that ruins the running game don't help it at all.

C'mon October get here soon with Vice City Stories...

I hope Sony lets developers use the full CPU (and GPU I think) speed of the PSP pretty soon (although some of the games released so far are pretty amazing for a handheld).

I hope so, because EA support on the PSP versions of NBA Live 06 and Madden 06 was HORRIBLE.
Live06 is a great game, but it took EA months to release updated rosters; actually they only released one update.
Madden06 was crappy game. Aside from the slow load times and mispellings here and there, they had a glitch that prevented you from going past week 1 or 2 in season mode. They promised a patch that never came and eventually had people mail in their games for a replacement

thats what happens (especially football) when one company has total control over a specific market...

I can only imagine what NFL 2K7 would play and look like on 360/PS3...
