I'm thinking about going to the San Antonio audition next week and I'd like to know what I can expect. They say registration begins on the 9th, but the actual audition doesn't begin until the 11th. Does that mean I'll have to stay in line for 2 days?
I'm not sure what happens there, but I do have one very important question. What song do you plan on singing? I recommend the Yao Ming song.
Yao Ming song was on my top 5 list, but it didn't make the final cut. I'm singing Elvis Presley's "Suspicious Minds". Strangely, I was thinking about singing Backstreet Boys' "I Want it That Way" in my Yao Ming jersey (come on, you've seen it on youtube). Too bad I can't sing all the parts at once.
If you're up there auditioning and you can see that you're losing the judges. Just go buck wild mad and start spazzing out. You almost have just as good of a chance to make it to Simon, Paula, and Randy being really bad then being really good. My friend worked the audition here in Houston and he said a lot of people were let through for "simon bait" as they called it.
good luck. didn't audition for that, but auditioned for mtv's "the real world" several years ago. of course it didn't work out.
There are many, many moderately talented singers in the world. They sing in church or school choirs, or at a family member's wedding. Their friends and family think they have a nice voice and if you heard them, you would probably think the same thing. Those people NEVER make it on TV in American Idol. Only the really, really good ones, and the really bad ones that are intersting make it past the initial screening process.
Correct. I made it past the two first rounds on the USA version. You are put in front of F list celebrities for the longest time. Then you get put on the "A" list for the show. Honestly, my friend should have been shown for a bit on TV. Closest thing to a "10" I've actually seen in Houston.
We are having auditions in Memphis this year as well. It is my understanding that it is 24 hour registration the first two days and the third day you audition. You can register anytime during those first two days. They will give you a ticket and wristband and you can go home. They'll give you a time where you can start lining up on the audition day. They'll hold the door to get a beauty shot of the people standing in line and then they'll let you go in the building. Hope this helps.
I auditioned once. I thought I did real well and should have advanced but that d******d simon said cruel things to me and made me cry.
I think you should sing "With A Little Help From My Friends." That way, after you start out with "What would you think if I sang out of tune," Simon could interrupt and say "I'll tell you what I think..." You know, be a nice guy and make his job easy.
You picked a tough song..."Once in a lifetime" by Talking Heads. You didn't quite pull it off. Randy thought it was "aight, dawg". Paula was drawn in by your charming looks. Simon thought it was "the worst rendition of the song he'd ever heard or ever will hear...absolutely dreadful". They didn't show you on TV so... .
My friends and I got some beers and went down to check out the people camping out in the Aloha Stadium parking lot a few years ago. It looked horrible. I wouldn't want to wait in that line, especially overnight. It seemed like for every potentially talented person there were at least five or six loudmouth dumbasses causing a scene.
Thanks wnes! I'm still not sure if I'm going to do this yet, but it appears my schedule will allow it. Also, I can say that I've at least done this once and tell others not to do it.
Good Luck OMB. My advice would be to be good and interesting. Believe me, "good TV" means alot more to network execs than great talent. And remember...HAVE FUN!!!!
Nope...Cancelled due to Hurricane Katrina. Katrina victims were evacuating to Memphis and couldn't find hotel rooms because they were all booked by American Idol Auditioners so American Idol cancelled the auditions.
