I heard some ish about Mark Cuban sayin' he wanted Shandon in Dallas along with Moochie. I don't think he will get both but I think if he gets either it will be Shandon so we might pull off a s&t with them.
that must be a team who wants SG. Maybe Charlotte? We may get Magloire or Thorpe or Coleman Maybe Chicago? We may get Miller or Bagaric. Maybe Denver? We may get Willis or McClintoc or Radojevic. Maybe Sonics? We may get McCoy and Oyedeji. and finally Maybe Toronto? We may get Dream
There's a big man out there waiting to wear the pinstripes. Trust in CD. Jackson, Sabonis, McCoy, Polynice, whoever. Whoever we get now will be short term (I like Sabonis). 2003 FA market will make CD a kid in a candy store, and you can bet he thinks long-term. I think Hakeem's departure PROVES that beyond a doubt. There will be no more Catoesque "potential"-based contracts. Whoever we hire now is filler until 2003.
Shandon and Moochie do not have leverage with the Rockets. Dallas recently signed El-Ahmin and another guard/foward. In addition, Shammond Williams is available from Seattle, I would prefer Shammond over Moochie at $4 mil a clip, which is what Moochie is asking for. Moochie's only move to the hole is fake right and cross over left, every team in the league knows it's coming. Shandon Anderson - good defense, bad offense equals no more than $2 to $3 mil per season for a long term deal. However, I would be pissed that we are paying Walt Williams $5 mil to shoot bricks. If Shandon is pissed about playing second fiddle to Steve and Cat, he should develop his jumper. Moochie - max $3 mil Shandon - max $3.5 mil Taylor - max $6 mil (ouch, it hurts to write that number) Marc Jackson - max $1 mil (better than Cato will ever be - work ethic is off the charts)
Despite all this Fegan craziness...Moochie was pretty vehement about remaining a rocket at the end of last season. Hopefully his will can override Fegan's greed. Doubtful I know...but.
Shandon is a nice player that does have some value. To us he coudl still play some minutes as a SF/SG and may start at SF this year, but in the long run he doesn't have a spot. We need a big man. Preferably a C but there are alot of teams who have been succesful with two PFs. Now I also believe a good little man is not equal to a good big man. So straight up we may be able to get a average (at best) big man. Preferably I hope we package SA and another body or two (Walt, Cato, Collier, KT) to get a big body who can play.
no one in their right mind wants shandn andersn as their starting 2 guard. the problem, as i see it, is that he wants the starter's role and starter's respect. delusions of grandeur, indeed. saving a change in his philosophy and contract demands, let his ass go, please.
Everybody forgets the value of what Anderson brings. That is one on one D on a great perimeter player. I don't know how much that is needed in a zone D but since we will not play any zone Anderson is absolutely essential. He is a role player and essential role players makes $4mil per.
If they know its coming then why dont they stop it? Did I hear you say you prefer someone over Moochie? Are you on crack? The only PG's I prefer over Moochie are Francis and Cassell. Dat's it.
Woodlands Boy: 2 things: 1. shandn (or at least his satanic agent) said they want more than the exception. 2. the defensive stopper that is under 6'6" is a myth like the cyclops. that said... i could stomach $4 mill over 2. anything more would make me nauseous.
Anybody think Cleveland would be interested in a Shandon\KT for Mihm swap? Not a suggestion, just a thought.
If you don't keep Shandon , who is your back up SG? You could say you are going to divide the minutes between Mooch ,Cat and Steve but that doesn't allow for injuries or even 5 on 5 practice.
If Anderson stays greedy, what about a sign-and-trade to Miami for Eddie House? We could use the trade acception to make it work. It would give us Moochie insurance and someone who has played both guard positions. House has a much better 3pt percentage and has playoff experience. We would still likely need a swing forward for tall guards, but I think it is an idea worth considering.
Thats what i think about Shanndon. His defensive prowess got Hakeem smashed on! Why not let Carter shoot the jumper instead of driving to the basket?
I don't know how this works cap-wise, but Minnesota is stocked at center but is badly in need perimiter players. They just signed Joe Smith to be their starting center and they drafted Loren Woods. Does anyone think they'd be interested in a Shandon for Dean Garret deal? What would ya'll think of that?
I liked that Shandon for DeMarr Johnson deal. That woulda been sweet. I'm still holding out for Chicago...it seems that they are REALLY long mediocre and rookie centers and could use a trade, plus the Cato-Floyd connection (quick- trade before he's fired!), makes me dream of a Shandon s+t with Cato to Chicago. Hell, give us Curry, he's gonna suck anyway, come on Krause, you need some good veteran leadership, not rookie giant centers.
