When Olajuwon returns to the Compaq Center in March, do you think he will:

I personally think he should be cheered for what he has done for The Rockets and Houston. I am happy he is gone though. Those two draft picks will be nice in continuing to form the future of the Rockets. The Rockets could have gotten nothing.

He will be cheered. No one should boo him.

Cheer...I dont think any bitterness on the part of the rockets fans will last more that a few weeks. Plus, when the Raptors dont win the championship, I think Hakeem will start to get nostalgic about his glory years in Houston. Maybe this break will be good for both sides. At least Hakeem wont spend the last three years of his career getting dogged by us Houstonians because he's "eating up cap space" or whatever... Once Hakeem and Houston gets a breather from each other, I think both sides will get nostalgic...um yes...so ...cheer

When Hakeem comes back to the Houston, although hes in a diffrent uniform, he should and will I hope, get an emotional standing ovation from every hand and throat in the arena. If one throat sways from the chorus of cheers and even lets out a peep of disgruntled emotion, that throat should be grabbed, pulled, and kicked down the stair entrance. So please, don't boo Hakeem at the compaq center unless you want to be treated like a Knick Fan waiting in the bathroom line at the Summit during game 7 of the 93 finals.

I don't think I'd be able to do either. I certainly don't want people to boo him, but I would have a hard time cheering for him. When his number is retired by the Rockets, that's another thing.

I'll do the same thing I do whenever a player from the opposite team is introduced.

    Nothing.

I'll stand there, and wait until they introduce the Rockets, then let go with a cheer that will shake the very foundation of the Compaq Center.

Lets all be completely silent. No cheering, no booing, no nothing. Just silence.

Realistically, he'll get both booed and cheered. The cheers will far outweight the boos, tho - the few boos probably won't even be heard. Anyway, he'll likely be injured when the Raps come to town, might not play/even be there...

I wonder if the Compaq announcer will announce him as Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon, or just say his name. It would be wierd not to hear that moniker over the PA, they usually don't do that for the opponents.

Hopefully whoever said boo made a clicking mistake, because they are foolish. If I see someone booing dream at a game I will make it a point to find the largest man in the Compaq Center deal with them appropriately.

He won't get boos, we may not have the loudest fans in the league but we do have class.

Hakeem booed in Houston? Not bloody likely!
No city in america wins or loses with more class than Houston. It's what makes the proudest about living here. The Oilers lose in the playoffs an 35,000 show up greet them. The Rockets win the Championship and nothing is burned or looted, just a downtown parade with families of fans cheering.

You might point to the failed 'save the oilers" ralley. But the Oilers left Houston because the owner was an embarassment to the ciity's sense of class. I never forget Greasy Bud pulling out a speech someone had written for him and stumbliing through reading it for Bruce Mathews retirement ceremonies. ugh!

Hakeem has inspired Houstons prided for over 20 years. He will never be anything but a hero in this town. He will have his numder retired here, he will get a statue doing the dreamshake at the new arena, and he will be inducted in the Hall Of Fame as a Rocket.

I originally answered this question a month or so ago & I said then that I would give him a standing O even in a Jazz uni.

Now that the smoke has cleared & reality has set in. I will be the first to Boo the son of a Raptor. I will make it to the 1st game as he will probably come down with a he Heart Condition or some B.S. be the 2nd half of the season & I won't get a chance later as Dream wont travel with the team, he will be too busy counting his Money & b****ing about his role.

MAYBE CHARLIE THOMAS WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG....... I never thought I'd ever feel this way, please god help me!

The Rockets better take care of some serious business now:(

If you remember when Pippen went back to Chicago, the PA Announcer almost lost his voice... Sooo no doubt Hakeem will be announced as the dream with alot of enthusiasm.
